Virtually no service together with mediocre food makes this a place to avoid. Allowing no reservations one would think there would be a person taking names at the front of the restaurant - instead the customers pretty much milled around looking confused before finally being asked brusquely to wait outside and just remember who got there first. Upon finally being seated, the food was a major disappointment other than the redfish which had very nice flavors despite being slightly overcooked and more firm would be ideal. In terms of other dishes the gumbo had virtually no spice or flavor, the fig & blue cheese torte was not great to start with (if the menu didn't say blue cheese it would have been tough to tell) plus it was served way too cold with hard little tasteless bread slices as the accompaniment. Even worse yet was the barbecue shrimp arrived unpeeled and swimming in a bowl of unappetizing sauce which again had virtually no spice or flavor other than a bit of tomato-based barbecue to go along with the oil that had separated to the top. On the side with the barbecue shrimp dish was a half baguette of the standard tasteless bread which at least wasn't rock hard in baguette form.
The BYOB policy is great and the overall atmosphere is actually quite nice with big windows, exposed brick, and friendly colorful artwork on the walls. Unfortunately, the combination of mediocre food and bad service from beginning to end is something I can't overlook. Maybe it's better for brunch but based on my dinner experience I have no intention to return.

I went here for lunch and the atmosphere was perfect - light and crisp decor, plenty of space between tables, good sunlight and window views. The food was excellent (juicy hamburger, crispy fries, and gumbo-like butterbean and shrimp side), but we were very disappointed when my vegetarian friend ordered an omelette that came with ham and asked for them to substitute ""whatever vegetables you have"", they proceeded to add EVERY vegetable they had and charge her $1 for each. We were shocked when we received our bill and they adjusted the price with some hesitation, but that sort of underhandedness should not be tolerated.

This place is amazing. It's very inviting as you first walk in - the decor perfectly combines a modern style (Eames-style chairs, cool blues and greens accented by dark leather banquettes) with the building's classic Quarter aesthetic (beautiful mouldings, exposed brick). The menu appears relatively mundane, but do not be fooled - this is no ordinary brunch menu! I was intrigued by the fried green tomatoes on the menu, so I ordered the Eggs Dauphine. The two perfectly poached eggs were plopped on top thick slices of ham and deliciously sweet/tart fried green tomatoes. And the owner must have sold his soul to the devil to make biscuits this good (rumor has it that he uses Abita beer in the batter). The only thing that would have made this place better would have been an offering of espresso drinks rather than just diner-coffee.

They cleaned up the QSR - painted, put in new tables and chairs. I was a bit sad to see the ambience and quikiness of the old restaurant had gone by the wayside. Having said this the meals seem to just as good. My companion and I had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant during our stay. Breakfast was a great sucess - we had a basic meal with scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuit and fried green tomatoes (which were great), grits and a terrific honey flavored jelly. Service was good, maybe a little less friendly than the old restaurant, but we walked away satisfied. A few days later we went for dinner, my companion had fried catfish, a disappoint it was not a filet but just fried chunks. It was good, but a filet would have been better. I had a very good cheeseburger made with fresh ground beef. The only disappoinment was the mac n' cheese that we both ordered. Dry, overcooked and not a lot of cheese. They should look up Martha Stewart's recipe for mac n' cheese - it would be perfect. All in all, I 'll be back on my next visit

Twice while visiting New Orleans I ate at the Quarter Scene for breakfast. Both times I tried something different and can say I had the best omelette that I have ever had....it was the MawMaw omelette and o' how I wish I could have one now! The food was wonderful, the prices were very reasonable and the quaint charm and fun staff made this a real enjoyable experience. You are greated warmly each time you enter and made to feel at home. The service was great! We highly recommend it and can't wait to get back to NOLA so we can got to The Quarter Scene!!

Quarter Scene was on our ""brunch"" list. But we fell into this sweet bistro just before 11:00 PM on a Saturday night because we were famished after a liquor-induced, stupified stroll at the ""west"" end of the Quarter. We got to sit at Tennessee William's favorite table for our late night dinner. We basked in the aura of that luck throughout our meal. I had an absolutely wonderful hamburger. My mate ordered the chicken fried steak. As we munched on great foods, we watched out of our personal window(really, Tennessee's), a veritable parade of buff gays stomping their way toward Bourbon Street for the final night of Southern Decadence. Nothing more needs to be said about this great eatery.

The QSR Carribbean Waffle is like dying and going to food heaven!!! This is the yummiest thing I have ever eaten for breakfast in New Orleans. So huge I could hardly finish it. I also highly recommend lunch at QSR -- they make my all time favourite gumbo!!!

I ordered the Cajun Hash and Potatoes, my friend had the Pan Pardu. Both were fresh and wonderful. Large portions. The Pan Pardu is real french toast with grilled banana.......WOW! The hash was excellent, succulent corned beef, and lots of it. Hot, fresh, excellent. Good price, very good service.
