Apparently milk & juice may only be ordered with alcohol

I've always liked Angeli's until recently. It was a Saturday afternoon and I was with my 2 yr old and I wanted to order her some milk. I was told all she could have was water because the milk and juice are for mixed drinks only and it's not a normal drink order. What? Really? Seriously? Wow. I left and when I got to work Monday morning their menus went straight to the trash.

Worst Restaurant Experience I Ever Had

The unique aspect is that the management at Angeli asked the New Orleans police to arrest us.

Our waitress brought us menus but no water or bread. We placed an order for an appetizer and a bottle of wine. After 20 minutes we (my wife and I) had no water, no bread, no appetizer, and no wine. My wife said ""enough is enough,"" and we left.

We were down the street when someone from Angeli (some type of manager) came screaming after us while calling the New Orleans Police Dept. to arrest us. He followed us for 8-9 blocks and used his cell phone to inform the police about our location.

A patrol car arrived and the officer urged us to pay him $27 to bring the fiasco to a conclusion, and we did. We paid $27 for a bottle of wine we never received.

My advice is this : STAY AWAY FROM ANGELI ON DECATUR. I rate this restaurant a MINUS TEN. By the way, I am 69 years old and have dined at restaurants throughout North America and Europe.

Portabello Mushroom Sammich

OMIGAWDY.....Angeli's Portabello Mushroom Sammiches are the BOMB-DIGGITY! Ever since we visited N'awlins for the 1st time and popped one of those babies into our mouths.....we have recommended all our friends to this joint. But that comes with strings; they MUST absolutely MUST bring us a 'shroom sandwich back to Atlanta! Matter of fact; I""m eating one right now. SALUD!!! Love ya'll......

good for vegetarians

Thank goodness for this place! Interesting and tasty vegetarian options in a deep-fried meat city. We ate here several times on our vacation.

Great place to eat

The food at Angeli is always excellent. I love their sandwiches and pasta salad and have never been let down when eating here. When I'm showing around friends from out of town this is always our quarter lunch stop. And the waitstaff has always been friendly- even during busy and crazy Mardi Gras.

Best place to go when you're drunk and hungry

Great pizza, big salads, big, messy and interesting burgers. The staff is interesting and it's near a goth section of the quarter so everyone is terribly fun to look at and interact with. They play old movies on a projector screen, at least I think they still do since the hurricane. A must go to at 3 am.

Best Bang for your buck in the Quater

What's there not to love about Angeli's? It has a fun and funky ambiance, delicious food, and amazing drinks. My personal meal is the Jalalpeno cheeseburger and spicy Bloody Mary. The music rocks too.

Late night heaven...

Angeli was the only restuarant that I ate at while in New Orleans. I had plans to go elsewhere to try the typical tourist eats but never actually made it to them. I was so impressed with the food at Angeli, I think I ate there 4 times in 2 days. I never had the same thing twice and it was all stellar. I can't say that I ever saw the restaurant really busy and I never had to wait. After a 5 hour drive I arrived around 4am and I was pleased to get great food and service at such an hour. When I return to nola I will definitely be paying a visit here.

Staff was friendly and the pizza is very good. I was surprised to find pizza that tasted this good in the Quarter.

This resturants is by far the best place I have eaten at in New Orleans. It is geared to a younger generation and definately carries the Nawlin's attitude. Not only is the food esquisent and cost-friendly, but the atmosphere is relaxing. I've heard the resturant could get crowded, not good for large groups, but I have only been there during off-hours usually between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The service is not annoyingly over-bearing (i.e. ALWAYS bothering us or to ""sell"" food. Just get our order, fill our drinks, and let us eat, dammit! :] ) I feel at home at Angeli. Before my piercings at Rings of Desire, this has always been my eatery of chose! Kudus for the food, atmosphere, and ATTITUDE! This is a resturant for the hip, young, and young at heart!
