This use to be one of the best places in New. Orleans to eat. And top of the line.But, with the sad and untimely death of the founder Miss. Betsy. It has really gone down hill. It is like they do not care any more.The food has really gone down hill the most.Anything that should be hot comes out stone cold and what should be cold is room temp.Catfish is nothing more then breading. Meat cut thin. side dishes very small with little taste.Desserts without taste.Tea and coffee weak.Wait staff have to be asked to get up from tables with friends they are chatting with to wait on you.Paid about $17.00 for two but all we really got was stale bread and weak ice tea.Gave it another try for Breakfast and it was not any better.I am told that IF you know them you get better food and service. That is NOT any way to run a restaurant.Miss Betsy would be rolling in her grave if she saw what her dream has become. Nobody could of cared as much as Miss Betsy cared about this place. It was reported that even on her "death bed" she told them to leave and get to work.They promised the city to keep it alive. So her dream would live on. But, they seem not to really care to even try to come as close to a knock out, affordable place as Miss Betsy did.Her dream died with her. And we miss them both ;(
... Best meal I had in New Orleans. Now, I've only been there once, but I tried some classics -- Galatoire's, Mothers, Cafe du Monde...A little off the beaten path in the prettier sections of the French Quarter (read: away from Bourbon), Coffee Pot is run by a group of charming older ladies. Service is SLOW, so don't have any important appointments waiting. Waiting to order takes forever, and silverware is an afterthought. But once you do get your food, YUM. Don't come here to order something "normal" like omelettes or a salad -- those things are perfectly fine here, don't get me wrong, but it's the regional fare that sings here. Lost Bread is a requirement. Like a beignet, but made with Po Boy bread and probably the most delicious thing I had on the trip. Also amazing are the The roast beef Po Boy is to die. Meat is tender, bread is crunchy enough to hold up to the sauce, and the sauce is a perfect mix of tangy and sweet. Also amazing are these rice and cinnamon cakes -- can't recall the name, but so good. Go and spend some time!
As a frequent visitor to New Orleans on the quest for the perfect shrimp & grits, my search ends here. First off, the staff was so friendly, super-attentive & entertaining. They had so many helpful suggestions and even at times joked that they hope I didnt like the food - so that they could eat it instead. One of the best suggestions for a meal was the jumbo shrimp & grits (wrapped in bacon)! The grits were AMAZING & the gravy -- changed my life! LOL The menu is a little pricey but the ambiance, service & food is more than worth it!
NOLA is one of my favorite places to visit for the good food and great atmosphere Of all the cities I could have gone I brought my mother here for the Stevie Wonder concert. We rode the trolley through the Garden District and stopped at another (over priced) place up the street. We decided to keep looking and walked up on this restaurant. After reading these reviews we went in for lunch. Friendly staff, festive atmosphere and GREAT food. I got the eggplant and crab cake stack. The price was just right too. I'll be back.
I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was out of this world. Every member of the staff went above and beyond for us. The kitchen rushed our food since we were so famished and it started pouring while we were eating so the hostess made us some ponchos. The General Manager was phenomenal. He arranged an order of the beer flight holders for us and even found a lost earring. Aces in my book.
My husband and I stopped by every spot we could while on our honeymoon in 2010. When we got to Willie Mae's we could not believe the line, a sign of good food. Our wait was worth every bite.. This chicken is the stuff that my dreams are made of. Everytime someone tells me they are going to or thru New Orleans I ask for them to bring me back some chicken. It has been 3 years and I still crave the taste. will be back soon.
Good food, fast service, and friendly staff! I am from California and I ate here while in NOLA for the 2014 Essence Music Festival. I ordered the breakfast pork chops, eggs, and has brown potatoes. Excellent! I found this place while looking for the postal annex. Once they warm up to you, the staff is super friendly. I would definitely eat there during my next trip! Great place for breakfast. Have outside seating to accommodate our dog. The server was great as was the food. My wife had the French toast made with whole grain bread with bacon and berries $14.15. Small orange juice $2.99. I had eggs, ham, potatoes and toast $7.99 and a side of country gravy $1.59. A very busy place with limited parking but well worth stopping there.
I love this Reginellis. Everyone is personable and friendly. They changed their menu a few weeks ago and removed my favorite dish, which was the porta New Orleans appetizer. :(. But, I forgive them because everything on the menu is still yummy and the new pizza I tried last week was full of mushroom deliciousness.
Excellent all around, food was simply the best, staff and service wonderful, restaurant and atmospher outstanding. We were a party of four out to celebrate a birthday, we all ordered diffrent types of meals and drinks, all was excellent. Wait time was about 35 minutes, but was worth it. We will be back!
