New London Public Schools provides free public education for students with disabilities in the New London, Connecticut. It includes the New London High School, Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School, F. W. Edgerton Elementary School, Harbor Elementary School, Jennings Elementary School, Nathan Hale Elementary School and Winthrop Elementary School. For students who are handicapped both physically and cognitively, New London Public Schools offers two programs based on a the student s age. For students age 3 through 12 the program is located at Nathan Hale School. For students age 12-21, the program is located at the New London High School. Both programs offer extensive services to students, including special education instruction, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech, language therapy and social work services. New London Public Schools has contracts with the Bureau of Educational Services for the blind to provide assistive technology, Braille instruction and curricular modifications.
