I'm a resident of down town New Haven. Recently a pizzeria named Red Tomato opened up on chapel street. It's not your typical pizzeria though. Being a chef myself, I was hesitant in trying. As soon as I walked in the staff politely greeted me and took my order. My pizza was done within a few minutes of waiting. Not expecting a great quality pizza, but not bad! unexpectedly one of the staff came over to where I was waiting to hand me my order and also added garlic knots on the house. As I mentioned previously, by far one of the best customer service experience I've ever had!
I stay at the Courtyard at Yale on business quite often and am thankful that Empire is right next door. Quality Pizza, Wings, and Calzones. I have had the cheeseburger there a few times and its decent for an Italian place. I like that they can make the Calzone with whatever I want in it, as my odd request of Pineapple, Ham, Sausage, and Pepperoni isnt always something that all italian places can make. Anyway, the food is good, and the guys there remember you. Love that they def take care of their regulars, it keeps me coming back again and again
I've been there 4 times and tasted 9 different things on the menu. Everything was fabulous. I grew up with apizza and been to many places. Joey D's is by far the best around. Bar none. Subs or wraps, full entrees, buffalo wings, stuffed breads, salads, calzones, fried dough, soups, apps and of course apizza. Everything made fresh to order. He makes his own cannolis on site. By the end of the summer I will have gained 20 lbs. A much needed restaurant in the Morris Cove area of New Haven. Opened 7 days a week and delivers too. Bon Apetit!
The very best pizza in Connecticut. We drive down here monthly just to eat at Modern. Its well worth the 45 minute drive for us. Its just that good. High quality ingredients, knowledgable and friendly staff, and whoever cooks this pizza is amazing. Its that good people! The sausage they use is out of this world as well. The clams casino ditto. This is the benchmark of excellence
My family and I have been going to Grand Apizza since I was a little girl. Fred made some of the best pies I have ever had the pleasure to taste, and George is carrying on the tradition today. This place is definitely an overlooked jewel in our great city. Highly recommended.
This is an addicting pizza. The smell alone is phenomenal. When I'm dieting, I can't go near the place. Favorites are white clam, fresh tomato in the summer, chicken and peppers. Believe it, I like pies built without tomato or mozzarella, just toppings with pecorino romano.
BEST PIZZA IN THIS PART OF NEW HAVEN I GROW UP RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET AS A KID AN ME AND MY MOM WOULD ALWAYS COME IN AN HAVE PIZZA LOVE PIZZA HOUSE 10 STARS RATING THANK YOU FOR MAKING GREAT PIZZA AL THESE YEAR AN THANK YOU GUS FOR BEING SO HELPFUL
I'm so glad a good pizza place opened up in this neighborhood. Everyone at Joey D's is so friendly, the food is great (I've tried the pizza, pasta, calzones, and salad so far), the prices are reasonable, and the location is wonderful!
I have lived in New Haven for 2 years and couldn't find pizza like this! Awesome food - great pricing - really nice people working there - clean (not seen in this city often) - all fresh ingredients! My official new pizza parlor!!!
