The only way to describe the food and service is simply "Outstanding". I had the pleasure of dining at The Drunken Fish at Westport this past weekend and I will become a regular. The night started off with a very pleasant greeting at the hostess stand and again by our waiter once we were seated. The bar was full along with the restaurant throughout our dininig experience. This must say something because as soon as a table was ready to be seated it was with many people still waiting to be seated. Our waiter had a great personality and was able to describe the menu in a way that made want to try something new. His energy level was high as well as his selling abilities. The food ranged from Appetizers to Sashimi and Nigiri Sushi and from Regular to Signature Makimono Rolls, Stir Fry to Fried Rice. The menu had many great items to choose from. After the many suggestions our waiter offered we decided on the Soft Shell Crab Apprtizer which was Soft-Shell Crab lightly battered with a Katsu sauce. Our waiter suggested a variety of wines and we went with the Greg Norman Pinot Noir which complimented the crab very nicely. We then decided to try The Drunken Fish Roll, The White Tiger Roll, and The Starburst Roll. All were outstanding in presentation and in taste which makes you want to go back and try them all. It is not only hard to find good food these day's but it is harder to find a server as dedicated to his craft as our server was Saturday night. I will not only be back but I will certainly tell my friends and family of my experience at The Drunken Fish Westport.
I had the pleasure of visiting your establishment last Saturday for my daughter's wedding reception. The back bar area was the perfect place. It was private and there was plenty of room for everyone. We had a wonderful time and the food was excellent. It was not until today that I heard some disturbing news. I just heard that one of the waitress' was accused of stealing and was fired. Both of the waitress' worked very hard that evening and did not deserve to be treated in that manner. In my opinion that was a very poor way of doing business. Considering all the money that was brought in that evening, 5 cases of beer is trivial. Believe me no one dislikes this woman more than me, but what happened to her and the way she was dismissed was very unbusinesslike. There are other ways of dismissing an employee other than accusing them of stealing. I will never be back to your establishment again. I will also inform any friends who may have patronized your business to stop going there.
I was just there today.. It was GREAT!! it is not small at all there is an upstairs that has three dinning area plus a very nice bar. Then there is the down stairs that has a bar, but the best part of the restaurant was the outside where I ate at. there are two parts to the beer garden, I sat in the covered garden that also has a bar. and there was an upper garden that is uncover that hold about 50 people i would say.. so Mr. Soulardman I don't know where you ate at but my food was great and I thought the place was very nice. I had the garlic chicken that comes with a salad for 9.99 plus has a good glass of wine for under $17.00. the wait staff did there job. I had a very nice waitress her name was Sue.
Stumbled upon this place for lunch today. I only ordered soup and salad, but WOW it was great. It definitely is a hole-in-the wall kind of place with a limited menu, but the waitress was superfriendly and the food was excellent. I had a caesar salad and a chicken and rice type of soup. The soup was homemade and INCREDIBLE. I could taste some type of green in it (spinach or mustard) and it was seasoned perfectly. The dressing on the salad also tasted homemade and the anchovies came through nice and clearly which I love. I had a soft drink and made it out of there under $10 after leaving a $2 tip.
This place is a great karaoke spot, although it can get quite crowded and you may sit there for 4 hours and only sing twice. I can't tell who works there, seems like there are a lot of employees on hand. The big bouncer woman is quite rude, but if you stay out of your way you should have a good time. Best night to go is Friday....and the hot bartender doesn't hurt. NOT at good spot for drink specials though. Quite disappointing prices...ladies night is only on Wed. and I think they have bucket specials, but not during karaoke....which is 4 nights a week. Weird .
Obviously I am a Mizzou fan. So when they play Bar101 Soulard is where I go plenty of big screens and profectors keep the action going. I love the customers and workers, they are real and down to earth. The food is great, I like the froglegs. The patio has a stage and outdoor bar, it's a nice dinner spot before we take the free shuttle to the cards game. We joined a sand volleyball league and they let me bring my puppy, yes they are dog friendly. If there is one downfall, it is when we are dancing outside it is quite a walk to the restrooms inside. This place is huge!
Absolute best in Soulard. Love this place. The food is always, I mean ALWAYS exceptional. Tuna Tacos, my husband's addicted. I love them too but want to try other dishes because I know it's all so good. Monte Cristo, OMG. Melt in your mouth. How did he get ham to be so tender? And the sauces, magnificent. Meatloaf, great. They even offer Creamed Corn as a side. This is NOT your mother's creamed corn. It's amazing. I always have to laugh as we pass the line outside Bogart's around the corner---those people just have no idea what they are missing only a block away!
I've gone to Harry's for the last 3 years on my birthday for karaoke, and I try to go as often as possible. They hold free karaoke on Thursday through Saturday night. The crowd is so inviting and forgiving, and MK the DJ is lots of fun. It's a fantastic environment for people who are skilled singers or absolute novices. It's lots of fun to dance too! I love their kids meal burgers too. $4 for a huge burger and steak fries! The waitstaff is friendly and fun, and most of them sing, too! Great times.
It was a good place to grab a quick bite with a friend over lunch while visiting from out of town. Quick service and friendly bar tender & waitress. From what I hear, the night time scene is pretty good. I almost wish I could stick around to check it out. It certainly seems like one of those places where everyone gathers when they're home for Thanksgiving (which I'm told is true). Like the St. Louis version of St. Elmo's Fire, except without the neon lighting and Demi Moore.
