Urgent Care Center

I smashed the tip of my middle finger, enough for it to bruise the entire finger tip & allow blood to pool under the finger nail. It was very painful, ice and over the counter pain meds were not helping so I figured I should get it checked out. I went there early on a Sunday right before a holiday, they decided they were going to close early so they were rushing everyone's care. I had 3 various X rays of my finger, the PA on staff said he personally did not think my finger was broken, not would I have to have the blood under the finger nail drained. Told me to continue with ice, over the counter meds that were not helping and sent me on my way. The nurse told me that a radiologist would also view my films. The next morning I get a call back from the nurse to tell me I may or may not have a hairline fracture in my finger tip, my radiology report was "undetermined" -they personally if my finger was broken would not treat me any differently, I should wait ONE WEEK and if I'm not better go to my primary care! The next day I went to my primary care to have 3 more x rays to reveal my finger was broken, and that my finger nail did need to be drained so I would not loose my entire finger nail! With my own primary care I were able to get nail drained, a splint for my finger, antibiotics since I had finger nail drained, and I were able to get RX for pain relief. I do NOT suggest visiting ST Mary's Urgent Care, you are def better off just going to the ER or waiting until you can see your own primary care doctor!!
