Better Business Bureau, North American Technician Excellence
I don’t normally write reviews on companies, but I could not let the blatant disregard for honesty go unsaid. My furnace stopped working so I looked up for a furnace repair in the Yellow pages online. Service Experts was listed as one of the preferred companies. I thought that I would be okay with them. I was wrong. Everything seemed okay at first. The technicians were friendly enough. They told me what was wrong with the furnace. They also pointed out a couple of things they thought were a concern. They were saying that it might be a good idea to replace the furnace, but they could get this one running but they would need to order the part. I asked how much a new furnace would cost and they said depending on the type of furnace I wanted and the efficiency of the furnace that it would be a minimum of $6500. I told them I wasn’t going to do that right now. They told me what the parts were and that they would give me an estimate. While they went out in their truck getting the estimate, I looked up the parts online. I am an IT guy, so I know how to look up things online. I knew that the igniter and flame sensor were no more then $60. When the men came back in the gave a quote of $236 for the parts, and with trip charge and installation the cost would be $650. I told them that seemed extravagant to me. They said that is what their parts catalog said. I told them I would pay the trip charge, but they were not going to do the repair. I called other company that a friend recommended to me and they came out and fixed my furnace for $234. That is less than what Service Experts wanted to change for just the parts. Unscrupulous? I will let you make up your own mind about that.
