Today at 3:30 pm, I called AAA to request a tow as my vehicle wasn't fully functioning. AAA told me it would be about 45 minutes that they would be out. With that being said, I hung up with the roadside assistance and logged into my AAA app. If anyone has AAA Roadside, you know you can track where your truck is and an ETA given by the company and what company it was. I was dispatched to Schmers Towing and given an ETA of 3:58 AM. Remind you, I called into AAA at 3:30 PM. In calling AAA back to find out where my tow truck was at 4:00 pm, it was 94 degrees outside, thankfully I was able to have found shade to park my truck under.
I then look back onto my app and realized that they gave me an ETA of 3:58am to pick me up broke down on the east side of town. When I called AAA back to tell them what they had done, they said there is now way possible they would have ever done that. I HAVE A SCREEN SHOT OF THE ETA GIVEN TO ME. Needless to say, I never received a call from the tow company, no contact other then what my app was telling me.
As far as I'm concerned, Schmers Towing is a poor excuse of a service provider for AAA. I have filed a complaint with AAA and will be taking further action with my complaint as it could have been an elderly person on someone with someone wirh small children stuck somewhere in this fine weather we have here in Colorado.
Visited Chipotle & Cold Stone last night, unfortunately, I had arrived just after the stores closed as I didn't realize the time. When I returned to my vehicle, a driver from Schmer's Towing had positioned his truck behind my car, flatbed down with full intent on towing my car - he was apparently sitting in the lot watching people park and then towing them. I approached him and stated that not only was my pregnant girlfriend in the car waiting for me but that I was parked in the correct lot per the signage. He had no idea anyone was in the car and quickly made it clear he didn't care that I had parked correctly - saying I owed him $200 "because he had dropped his flatbed". He was incredibly aggressive and after seeing reason fail I informed him I was leaving. I got in my vehicle, backed up, and as I was turning to pull out, he jumped in front of my car striking my fender and hood with his body while screaming "you're running me over". I asked him multiple times to move out of the way and stop detaining me, but he would not so I called the FCPD. As I was speaking to the FCPD's dispatcher, he apparently called another Schmer's employee (James) who, upon arrival, used his own truck to get within inches of my car to box us in (meanwhile, consuming the entire parking lot and boxing in other legitimate customers, one of whom had to drive over the curb just to get out after waiting for more than an hour just to leave). When FCPD's officers arrived, they had to ask both drivers multiple times to stay away from my vehicle and stop coming up to my window - both drivers were incredibly over-aggressive and "macho" throughout the entire ordeal, never once making an effort to be amicable or even professional. After much deliberation, FCPD ultimately made both drivers leave on grounds that they had no right to illegally detain us in this manner. In all, we were illegally detailed by these individuals for over an hour and a half. If you use Schmer's you won't get my business.
James, the tow truck driver taking my car, took pictures of me walking into a building and presented that as proof of my car being parked in a space for longer than permitted. Not pictures of me in/getting out of/walking away from my vehicle or any of my vehicle for that matter. There was a $65 drop fee to drop it in the lot. I paid it and they dropped my car into 2 parking spots, but not before they put body damage on my left rear door and the neighboring car that was to the left of mine. James then refused to move his truck until I threatened to call the police as his truck was blocking my car in. I watched him call his boss and as I was attempting to back out,James stood behind my vehicle with his phone pointed towards me. I had to get out of my car and for the 4th time tell him to get away from my vehicle before I call the cops,as our need to have any further contact was unnecessary. He began to yell at me and call me names. He took pictures of my damage done to my vehicle 3 years ago as I stated that that specific damage was not his or his company's liability and to get away from my car so I can leave. He insisted the damage I reported to my insurance 3 years ago was the damage I was trying to pin on him. My car has a paint transfer from the car next to me. There are DEEP scratches on the side and I pretty solid dent. When I called the company to file a complaint against James for blocking my exit from the parking lot after all necessary contact was complete, a man named "J.R." answered and immediately debated ever aspect of my complaint with his employee. This man took multiple picture of me without my knowledge (which is fine on it's own because I was in public) and then blocked the only exit from the lot with his truck until I threatened police action. I'm filing a police report for the damages to my vehicle and will peruse any avenue that ends in James losing his job.
