Founded in 1993. Northwest arkansas CHILDREN'S shelter is a private. non-profit organization that provides 24-HOUR emergency residential care services for children. It has served more than 5,500 children who are the victims of family violence. Neglect. And physical and sexual abuse. The organization accepts girls up to the age of 17 and boys through age 12. It offers on-site educational programs for children in kindergarten through grade 12 under the auspices of the Bentonville public school system. The organization provides classes in art. music, as well as physical and health education. It offers crisis intervention. mental health assessment. Counseling. And speech and occupational therapy services. The organization additionally provides food. clothing. transportation and arranges comprehensive evaluation of and attention for medical, dental and emotional needs.
