Thank You Mr. Joe's Chimney Sweep!

These people give exceptional service at an affordable price. Beware of telemarketing scams! If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is! There are scams running rampant in the Lehigh Valley! A lady calls you to make an appointment claiming it's been a while since they've been to your home (they've NEVER been to your home). They offer a $49 sweeping special ($39 if you're a Sr. Citizen). But by the time they're finished, they want $5000!!!! Mr. Joe's Chimney Sweep Service is the ONLY chimney sweep company in the Lehigh Valley that is a member of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, and they have been for 25 of their 26 years in business! They don't do ANY telemarketing! If they're calling you, it's because they have swept for you before. They won't sell you something you don't need or scare you into thinking you're going to die of Carbon Monoxide poisoning if you don't have your chimney relined immediately (some oil companies in the Valley are notorious for this tactic too). Mr. Joe's has been written up in The Morning Call more times than any other chimney sweep company in the Lehigh Valley, for their professionalism, honesty and integrity, and for helping people who have been scammed by other companies. THIS is the company you want sweeping your chimney!! I did and I will never go with anyone else!

Thank you note

I hired Mr. joe's chimney Sweep to help me with a problem I was having with my new pellet stove. It was not venting properly and the pellets were causing a large creosote build up. They came out to inspect the situation and found that the piece of lining pipe was blocking up and that it was not long enough to vent efficiently, so it was condensating in the flue. I only had 5 feet of 3" piping that the retail store gave me with the stove, and a 35 foot chimney with an approx. 12x12 clay flue lining. They explained that the lining needed to be 3" all the way to the top with the proper cap and support plate. They gave me all of the specifics and a list of items I needed to get from the store. I went back to the stove retailer and complained about my problem. They told me that the stove only comes with a 5 foot section of pipe and if I wanted more I had to pay for it...to the tune of $900 more! They also told me there would be a $150 charge for their stove installer to come out to "inspect" our problem and that the sweep company didn't know what they were talking about.

I decided to take a chance and buy the items from a real stove store (at $550 less than the other retailer wanted to sell it for), that the girls from Mr. Joe's recommended and installed them myself. The ladies at Mr. Joe's even said I would be able to purchase it cheaper from a stove store than through their company's supplier. Much to my pleasure, my pellet stove has given me no problems since then and I have since filed a report with the BBB against the store I bought my stove at. My inspection charge from Mr. Joe's was $70+ tax. Their advice for the information they gave me was worth 10 TIMES more than what they charged me. I will definitely be using this company in the spring when it's time to clean my stove and chimney. Moral to this story...NEVER buy a stove from a place that specializes in selling and installing pools and spas. They only sell the the stoves in the winter time to make extra money, know NOTHING about repairing them or trouble-shooting problems, and they rob you blind on extra parts. It was the stove retailer that didn't know what they were talking about. These girls knew EXACTLY how to solve my problem. Thank you!

Gotta Love It

It's about time there was an honest, reliable service company in the Leigh Valley and Mr. Joe's Chimney Sweep is just that! They showed up on time the day of my appointment, told me that I didn't need the new lining another chimney sweep company tried to scare me into buying on the spot, the day they were here back in October, and didn't charge me a dime for the service call. Can you guess who'll get my money the next time I have to get my chimney cleaned? These girls are AWESOME! Thanks! Keep up the good work!

Safety First!

I was very impressed by the way this company presented and handled themselves in a very difficult situation. My chimney had been neglected for years by the previous homeowners. After two trips to my doctor for what i thought was the flu, I found out that the home inspector had missed the fact that my heating chimney was completely blocked shut. When my oil company came out to service the burner for the first time (for me in this house, that is), they recommended that I call Mr. Joe's for a cleaning because the chimney was blocked up and I was getting carbon monoxide into the house (thus the reason for the flu-like symptoms). Two ladies and a gentleman showed up and spent the better part of 3 hours unblocking and cleaning my chimney. It had collapsed within itself and they had to remove the lining tiles that had fallen and wedged in the flue. They could have charged me an arm and a leg for the work they did (and I would have paid it because they deserved it), but they didn't. I've since had them reline my chimney with a new stainless steel chimney liner and our system is finally working efficiently and safely.

They were courteous, genuinely concerned for my family's safety and seemed to really enjoy working together, judging by the laughing we all did while they were here. I will highly recommend Mr. Joe's to anyone who asks and I thank my oil company for the excellent recommendation they gave me about Mr. Joe's.

Mr. Joe's not only cleaned the chimney, but advised me of water damage in the chimney, and showed me the fire box was in bad need of re-pointing. They also replaced a damaged door for the ash area of the firebox. These two ladies were very professional, and super clean with the ash and soot. You wouldn't have know they were here once they finished, which was a very rapid 40 minutes. Thanks Dawn...see you women next year!

Great Service

The two ladies that showed up to clean my chimney were courteous, professional and really knew their stuff. I had not had my chimney swept in many years so I thought the fee would be much higher than I was quoted. I wasn't charged a penny more than quoted and I was given some great advice and education. They left my home clean and my wife feeling much safer than after the last sweep we had here many years ago. I highly recommend Mr. Joe's to anyone who really needs an honest, reliable chimney sweep.
