I had my consult in the PA office. I could barely walk and pills weren't helping. They said I had a bulging disk and spinal stenosis and the canal was smashing my sciatic.
After determining they could help me, we discussed the procedure and cost. I was told I could have it done near my home in PA but I would be responsible for about 10% of the cost due to my insurance. I was then offered another option, they had worked out an agreement with my insurance group in Florida and could get me in there for free....FREE.
I had to pay for the flight, hotel and nurse for the next day but the entire procedure was covered 100%.
As I woke up from surgery, there was always someone there and checking in on me. Once fully awake was offered a beverage and a snack and told once fully awake, we needed to walk. I couldn't believe them, they actually wanted me to walk 2 hours after surgery.....what a bunch a whack jobs. WRONG!! I stood up and for the first time in months, I had 0 pain.
As we walked they kept telling me to slow down because though I feel good, I still had to heal properly. Once I confirmed I urinated, they let me go. For the next few months, I would get calls from them to see how things were going. They would give me advice for the days I did feel pain and answered every question I had.
Now, 2 years later, my other side is acting the same way. I think I will give these good folks a call and ask them to warm up the equipment cuz I'm heading down!!
They gave me my freedom back and now I need them again.
When I inquired about insurance I was told I had to pay the entire $30,000 out of my pocket. But they said we have an entire office dedicated to get my insurance money. They indicated they have never gotten less than $23,000 for the patient. I proceeded with the operation with no good results. Then i was told my insurance company (BCBS) would only reimburse me $2,000 dollars!!!!!. After some research I found out they knew that but lied to me. They said they would do another operation on at a discount but again out of my own pocket. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RIP OFF COMPANY!!
I had surgery Sept 28th in Cincinnati Oh at the SI for spinal stenosis, bone spurs & thick cartlage. For about 2 weeks I could walk & get around good, then on day 16 I could not get out of bed. Pain & burning so bad & my back locked up. Called the Spine Institute & was told irritated nerves from being compressed so long. Said use anti-inflammatory drugs & ice packs. 2 weeks later hurt so bad can't sit, lay, sleep they called in steroids for inflammation. Still no better. They recommended physical therapy now & go back to pain management. I am worse than before the surgery! They automatically take a payment out of my checking every month for 7 years cause insurance wouldn't pay. I don't know what to do! Maybe I should contact an atty, my Dr said that's hard to pay for 7 years for a bad surgery. I will not go back there. Wish I had read reviews before going. I was just told by physical therapy the reason I had no pain for 2 weeks was after surgery they pump you full of something like novacaine & you think you feel good then it starts wearing off & the pain is back.
Laser Spine Institute is amazing! I went from over 8 years of pain and crawling on the floor to zero pain and (attempting) cartwheels with my kids! Every person that works there is the absolute best and extremely caring. My recovery was incredibly easy and I've never felt better! If you are suffering, I urge you to call them. Get your life back - you deserve it!!
I have had 2 surgeries with LSI Before you go there you should know that they only operate on 1/2 of 1 level (in the neck - I think lumbar is the whole level). So it you have (like me) problems on both sides of your neck, you will need at least 2 surgeries. I did get SOME relief from my pain but it involves 4 different levels. Since my surgeries I have seen 2 ortho surgeons and a neurosurgeon in the hopes that someone could do it ALL at once. (LSI charges about $30K per 1/2 level PLUS your own travel costs (and hotel for a week - you will have to be there for at least 5 days for tests pre-op and procedure.) All 3 other docs say I'm not a surgery candidate. I am convinced that I have nerve compression without disk involvement based on what LSI found when they went in as well as based on what lessens my symptoms. However the nerve compressions DO NOT (and never did) show up on my MRI. The last doc I saw (familiar with LSI) said they are very aggressive - as in they WILL operate on you.
I had cervical spine surgery at the Tampa campus of LSI 2/16/15. I was treated with utmost respect, and compassion at every level. I've since received numerous calls from nurses checking in on my progress and recovery. My relief was immediate. They also took care of my husband during my procedure and appointments, with free massage, refreshment and comfortable waiting areas. These are the best of the best!
My husband just had surgery yesterday at the OKC facility, and it's been a great experience! The facilities are beautiful, the doctor, nurses and staff are very friendly and helpful. His surgery only took a little over an hour, and he could tell the difference by evening. We highly recommend Laser Spine Inst!
This place changed my life. I was partially paralyzed with pain for 3.5 years. I couldn't even hold my newborn daughter. I was in and out of my procedure in no time and even walked out of the recovery room. I am now 90+ weeks pain free and loving life with my family. THANK YOU LSI, Dr. Nees and the OKC Staff
My experience at Laser Spine Institute was nothing short of fantastic. I have never seen a group of individuals that were so attentive and caring. LSI made me feel like I was the only patient in the building all while helping others like me that were living in pain. I am now 3 weeks out and am pain free and was back to work in a week and a half. Thanks LSI!
I had my surgery about 8 weeks ago. I was in a lot of pain when I went in and when I walked out few hours later I couldn't believe how good I felt. From the first time I called to the day of surgery everyone has been very helpful and a pleasure to be around. From the nurses to the doctors thank you very much for giving me my life back. My recovery has been painless just a little soar the first few days. Now I’m back to living my life.
Thank you for giving me full relief of my pain and numbness I was living with every day. I now have 100% relief and want to pay it forward and share my experience in hopes it helps someone else gain the freedom of prescription meds and painful injections like I have.
This is a great place to go if you are having back pain, which I have personally had for 5 years. In Feb 2014 I went to Laser Spine's ASC in Tampa to have my MRI and the facilities are very nice and the staff was well informed to assist me. I met with the Dr. and he was very friendly and walked through my results together. Laser Spine Institute is also in a very beautiful location.
I called to get more information about possibly getting surgery to further repair my fiance's scoliosis. When they asked about his insurance, it was one unfortunately that would not pay for the surgery. As soon as she told me that his insurance was not accepted, she disconnected the phone call. These people are rude! They just assumed that I didn't want anymore information on the surgery and hung up! That is extremely unprofessional!
I have never been here either, but feel the need to give 5 stars to counter Pamela's review. What would make you rate someplace you've never been, with a bad rating simoly because they're not next door to you? It is no different than giving a restaurant you never ate at a poor review because they don't deliver. You should get them your recent MRI or other tests to review and if they feel they can help you, see if your insurance will pay an ambulance to bring you there, or some other comfortable ride.
