What a flake!!-he knew I was in need of an electrician and he booked the appointment then he failed to show or even call me back. Joe-did you get electrocuted perhaps?? I have a good mind to bill him for the 2 hours I waited-my time is valuable as well but people like Joseph Del Vendo don't really care about people.Shame on you Joe.
My experience was not so good. Joe told me he would come by my house today Saturday 7/2/16 to give me an estimate. He said he would be here between 10-11 and would call when he was on his way. Joe did not call or show up. I took the day off from work for this. He's obviously not a man of his word so I can only imagine how that translates to his work. Do not use his services if you are looking for reliability because obviously he's not.
I called Joseph at 8:30 on a Friday morning after calling and waiting to hear back for multiple days from 4 electricians in the area. I had just moved into the house the weekend before and a number of my circuits went out - losing a fridge, microwave, hvac, disposal, washer/dryer, and a number of outlets in the kitchen and bathroom. Joseph picked up, and within minutes was trying to help. We scheduled a time just a couple hours after my call, he showed up on time, worked to diagnose the problem and after an initial diagnosis wasn't correct, he kept working till the problem was solved (well past quitting time on Friday afternoon). Initially we thought it was a bad panel, then he saw the main lines to the panel weren't tightened, then after testing everything the panel was still acting up. We moved to the outside of the house and found that the main line connection to the house was corroded and loose. He redid the connection, tested, and everything was working perfectly. He could have run up a significant charge for parts and supplies but only charged me for labor. He was prompt, honest, and worked to diagnose and fix the problem the right way. I couldn't really be more pleased. Thank you, Joe!
Joe's a nice guy, but he is insanely expensive compared to other master electricians in my area. Also, one of his apprentices ran a 15 amp wire to a 20 amp fuse in my house, he could have started a fire and Joe didn't catch it... I didn't know till I hired another electrician some time later.
An electrician recommended we update from a fuse box to a circuit breaker after we called him for a small emergency fuse replacement. (it had broken in half in its socket). (The house is more than 100 years old and had been grand-fathered in when new codes/standards were established.) He said his company would call with an estimate. When they called, they said $2500. Without explaining why. Without checking everything out. Without ANYTHING. Ummm, no thanks.
We called Joe DelVando based on positive reviews I've read. My mother set up an appt for an estimate, which was free, no-strings attached, and he showed up on time. I would have expected so, but after reading reviews of other companies, I guess this isn't as rare as it should be.
Joe checked out what and where the work would be done, and showed me a few things he'd have to fix to bring the house up to code. He explained everything very clearly, wrote out and explained what was included in his costs. He was more than $1000 less than the other company, and MUCH more professional and thorough. My mother said we'd think about it, he thanked us, and left. Not 5 minutes later, she decided we should hire him. I ran outside and caught him before he left.
The day of the job, (one week later, which was fine with us), Joe and another guy showed up. Joe had told us the electricity would be out for about 5 hours, but his assistant was able to run a long cord from the house to I don't know where, and we The work was done quickly, had our tv for the afternoon. :)
Joe was patient with us and very professional. My mother was VERY happy with how everything went. She and I will recommend him to anyone who needs electrical work done.
I called Joe based on all the glowing reviews on YP....and they are all well deserved. He showed up early in the morning....fixed the problem.... very approachable.
I am a landlord..... I have a carpenter....contractor....plumber and an oil/furnace guy when emergencies arise. Looks like I've found my family electrician.
