Fake Akaushi Steaks

You pay 70 for a Akaushi steak but you get a Golden Coral steak

On the spur of the moment my g...

On the spur of the moment my grandson picked Ounce Steakhouse as the choice for his birthday dinner. We arrive about 5:30 and immediately thought we were very underdressed for the restaurant (me with t-shirt, him in flipflops). But the host staff welcomed and assured us our dress was just fine. That set the atmosphere for the entire evening. The waiter was efficient, friendly, and very helpful in explaining how the restaurant serves their steaks. They have three grades of beef and you can order whichever grade you want and then whatever size steak you want. My grandson loved this! The food was surperb! It was fresh, full of flavor, and tasted wonderful. The steak was cook to perfection! While not large, they do have a nice wine selection. My grandson ate every bite of his 12-ounce prime ribeye and all the mac and cheese. We even had a delicioust piece of chocolate cake served with a very large sparkler and Happy Birthday written in chocolate on the plate. This was my first visit to Ounce Steakhouse but it will definitely not be the last!

Worst Service&Over priced food

extreme inattentive staffs, over priced food and alcoholic beverages, small portions...and the list can go on. the waiter NEVER checked upon my table. I had to find my waiter and ask him to check upon my soup, sadly, my soup was cold when he brought it out. And he never checked upon how my soup was. It's needless to say how inattentive he was when he brought out the meals...he NEVER stopped by for once to check upon my table. i will NEVER go back again, and i have spread the words among my friends. The food hurt my taste buds. It was a horrible experience. I will not recommend this place to anyone. p.s. the alcoholic beverages weren't all that great and over priced too. save your money and go somewhere else!

Superb food and service.

I've been to Pasion 6 times, 3 in the evening and 3 at lunch. The food has ranged from excellent to truly wonderful, and the service has been consistently cordial, attentive, and professional. It's a little noisy at lunch, but the noise is the sound of lots of people enjoying themselves. One of the best restaurants in San Antonio. Easy to drive to, plenty of parking.

Bad Service, over priced

Our Dining Group went to Pasions and none of the six enjoyed it. We were sat IN FRONT of the speaker for the band on the patio. Not conducive for conversation. The waiters graciously moved us and it was better. But still not dinner music.

We were given a watier who was on the job for the second day. He never took my order with the rest. 4 meals came out one at a time - not together - and then mine. The 6th mealnever came and was canceled. The hostess told the manager that we were a dining club and she also came up stairs and stuck a around and listened to our complaints from a far. The manager, came and offered complimentary desserts. I had the Appetizer sampler and must say it was very good albeit pricey at $19. Ceviche, guacamole, one small empanada, 2 grilled shrim, sausage, plantain cakes topped with a meat ball, sweet banana all very good as was the ceviche sampler. The chicken ceasar salads had a heavy mayo dressing, the steak dinner was a small piece of meat and mediocre. The think with a dining group, is you share and sample alot. The Mojito was good albeit not alot of rum and I have had better.

Would we go back - no. Atmosphere and bar are okay and pleasant. But they have a long way to go before it worth the price.

Worst manager in San Antonio. The guy is rude, do not care about the costumer, all he cares is his

Too spencer for small business with no class from employees and the manager. I do not care attitude, which is demostrated after you order. Manager told my wife that he does not care about the costumer thinking and opinions, and kind of kick us out, using the security guys. You get better tretment at Taco Bell, and probably the food is better, and do not have to be robbed by this people.

Horrible service, plain food, never coming back!!!

Worst and rudest servers I have encountered. My friends and I had a party for 45. They demanded that each of us paid $25 regardless of whether we ate or not. Even though there were 43 of us eating they still wouldn't let us slide regardless of the enormous bar tab that we were going to have. The head waiter basically told us that we were welcome to leave if we weren't willing to abide by their rule. we spent 1500 there and were still treated like we weren't wanted there. The food took 2 hours to come out and by that time most of us had lost our appetite. Beef tenderloin was over cooked and more like a flank steak. Chicken pasta... for $25 dollars? gotta be kidding me... olive garden woulda been better. Had to refill our own water. Couldn't drag me back to this place even if the food was free.

Creative Latin Cuisine, Awesome Steaks!

I took my husband to Pasion for his birthday on a Saturday night. We were able to make a reservation the same day at seated at 7:30. The service was prompt and friendly. The only complaint regarding service is that I wish the waitress had been more knowlegdable regarding the new menu. Nonetheless, it was an amazing dining experience.
The selection of ceviche is surpassed by none. I had asked about one in particular and was pleasantly surprised that my waitress offered to bring me samples. The samples I tried were a bit too sweet for me and I ended up ordering the Mahi Mahi ceviche. It was a nice blend of lime and lemon juice with just a hiny of sweetness. The pico de gallo added a truly nice touch and the fish was incredibly fresh. The savignon blanc I had went perfectly with the ceviche. My husband ordered the Chicken Empanada and it was a touch too sweet and the salsa that was served with it left a little to desired for me. He ate every bite.
Then dinner was served. My husband had the Carribean Chicken and I the Filet Mignon with Wild Mushroom Tequila Demi Glace, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. My steak was cooked a perfect medium rare with a warm red center. The seasonings were perfect on the chicken. The chicken was moist and tender with just the right hint of spice. The pineapple rice gave the dish a truly carribean flair. It was one the best meals we have had out in a long time. On top of that the Tres Leches Cake that was brought for the birthday dessert is the best we have had in town.
Its also a rum drinkers paradise! Pasion carries over 40 brands of premium rum and has a very impresssive and reasonable liqour menu. The wine list by the bottle is decent but I wish the selection by the glass was better. Overall a wonderful experience, but don't expect a truly romantic dinner. The tables are very close together and don't offer much privacy. Also stay for the live music beginning at 10. We loved it!

Nice place to meet for drinks, menu is pricey and dicey.

Ate here for dinner on 12/16/06. Nice decor, bar, and patio area. We ordered the plantains for an appetizer - just so-so. Not very flavorful and on the greasy side. Decided to split an entree of paella ($21) and was not told that there would be a $6 upcharge to do so - not the end of the world, but nice to know up front in case it does make a difference to some... However, the paella was a major disappointment. The seafood component consisted of a few small (canned?) shrimp, 3 small mussels, 2 small (empty) mussel shells, 3 tiny cubes of pork, 3 crawfish (which my daughter tried and said tasted like ""pond"") and 3 small slices of greasy sausage. It had a watery consistency so that the spices were almost undetectable. One other word of caution - my daughter almost broke a tooth on a piece of shell - and found another sharp piece of shell - luckily, before she swallowed it. I also ended up with a shard of shell in my bowl. Probably the risk you take when your dish has mussels in it, but scary just the same! Hubby ordered a cobb salad and the ""chicken"" consisted of cold cubes that did not resemble any jerked chicken we had ever seen. On the bright side, management was very interested in our comments and comped the paella. In addition, even though we insisted the comp was more than fair, he brought out a complimentary dessert. We probably will not re-visit this restaurant unless only to enjoy the bar area...
