Got a call from this company wanting us to refer them. I asked for them to remove us from their list. He said they had no list. I then politely ask that they not call us again then, and he said I will give you a call next week and hung up, so I blocked them from being able to call us again.
1.) We would never refer a company we don't know and have never used as it could reflect poorly on us if we recommend a bad company.
2.) Based on the response I got back, If they will be a jerk to someone they didn't even know like myself, then they will do the same to you.
I personally will never use or refer anyone to this company based on the way they interacted with me over the phone.
I will not use this company again. I paid upfront $4000.00, They sent me a file list of recoverable files, I recieved my data and only a small percentage of files could be opened. The ones that did were corrupt and messed up. The photos were only thumbnails. Since they have a guarantee of a successful recovery or your money back, I called and they have been giving me the runaround. This has been going on for 4 months. Also it took over 4 months to get the data. I am trying to cancel the credit card they charged because of the poor customer service I am getting. I will not use them again. Buyer beware. Helpful at first. No longer.
My Linux-formatted RAID-mirrored pair of drives had failed. It turned out one drive was physically scored and the other corrupted. I lost my entire life's worth of personal data - over 150 GB. Gillware responded immediately to my inquiry on their website. They aggressively worked my case and maintained communication throughout. They did exactly what they said and recovered every bit of my data - fast. Thank you Gillware!!
As an art director, my files contain past work done for my clients, thousands of digital images, annual reports, brochures, ads, etc. The sort of files that takes up a lot of space on my computer, but also need to be handy at a moment’s notice. Storing everything thing on an external hard drive made perfect sense, until the hard drive failed 3 months after I purchased it. Having tossed all the CDs that originally held the files meant I was facing disaster.
Gillware is certified to work on my hard drive by the manufacturer, so I called them right away. They were pleasant, informative, and above all, willing to explain the recovery process to someone who doesn’t have in-depth knowledge of computer workings. Best of all, they worked with me on price. I had no idea that this could be extremely expensive, but they understood that a single person did not have the resources to put into a huge repair. They kept me informed every step of the way via email and personal phone calls. Best of all, they sent everything back to me in a spanking new hard drive. I’m back in business, and would recommend them to anyone who has that awful “Oh no” moment when technology breaks down. A+++, 5 stars, Rave Review!
Back this summer our harddrive went out and it had all of my important files on it.
Therefore, we took it back to where we got it and asked if they could retrieve "all"
the files off of it; the company said sure. When we got the files back and were going
through them the most important ones could not be found. So we took it back to the
company and told them that there were some files missing. However, when they went
back to try to retrieve them they said that they could not. Therefore, they referred us
to Gillware Inc. There they told us of what could be done, an estimate on how much it
might cost, all in a very nice, proffesional, and polite way. Within a few days Gillware
called and told us on what was going to happen and how much it was going to cost.
Gillware also informed us of some ways on how to make the price lower. That week
my files were retrieved; and the price was half the cost of what the, company that we
bought the harddive from, told us it was going to be. It was a relief! On the third
bussiness day we recieved the retrieved files, all in a well protected package, my
'babies' were home. Now I'm writing this to recommend to you that Gillware Inc. are
the people to retrieve 'lost' files on 'bad' harddrives. Thank you Gillware Inc..
I was really frightened when my computer and hard drive "fried" from a bad surge. I had lots of very importsnt data on the drive that I had to recover. I had never used any data recovery service before, but chose Gillware after an extensive websearch and comparison. I am thrilled I chose them. Every bit of data on the drive was recovered. The people at Gillware were great. They kept in touch with me, were very professional, and made the entire process as pleasant as once could have fearing the loss of data.
Before having to give them the final ok to recover my data, they e-mailed me a list of the data structure of the drive, showing all of the files that they were able to save. This was a very reassuring step for me. After giving the ok, they promptly shipped the recovered data back to me.
I have nothing but the highest praise for Gillware.
Thank you, Gillware for fixing our nightmare. All personal data, documents, family photos on a completely dead hard drive. Two other firms were unable to even ascertain the problem at all. The folks at Gillware are amazing. Within a week they not only recovered every bit (byte) of data, but they gave me the most competitive price of any firm with whom I had spoken previously. Because of their on-time, low price, high quality work, I will always use them for both my home, as well as my firm's data recovery and back-up needs. Also worth noting, their communications throughout the process is phenomenal. Feel free to contact me for reference any time. Thanks again, Gillware!!!
We are a local partner with Gillware Inc. Data Recovery and have many satisfied clients here in Wilmington. We had a relationship with a previous company who advertises here and they were fired. High turnover, poor customer service and missed commitments.
Gillware was referred to me by a peer in the industry and we have been very pleased with the results. We now use Gillware as our ONLY source for our customer's off-site data recovery. In the past two years they have NEVER let us down and the customer service is the best in the industry. For standard Data Recovery the average ticket is indeed $450.00 and you don’t pay until you see the index of the files they were able to recover. They keep us updated on the process and turn around time is as fast as you need it to be. When we can’t recover locally, Gillware is the answer at Your Computer Friends.
We also offer Gillware off site encrypted backup solutions. Feel free to call us about any of their services, no additional fees apply. Your Computer Friends 3816 Oleander Dr. Wilmington, NC (910) 799-8585
I recently bought a new Hard Drive to consolidate all my Family Pictures and some important documents in to it, I took me a couple of weeks to organize and remane the files properly.
One day the NEW hard drive crashed and I had no more access to anything on it, I took the drive to a friend of mine that has a computer repair company and even before seeing the hard drive he recomended Gillware.
I was really upset that he told me that but I came home and called them.
I was treated with exelent customer service, they explained me the details of the prossedure and gave me a quote on the spot.
I send the drive and two days later I recieved an email with all the files that they were able to retrieve from my damage hard drive.
I called them back and work all the details to get my pictures and my information back.
I do highly recomend Gillware for your data recovery emergency's thet are a great company to work with.
I travel for work, often going weeks without sitting at my own desk. When I lost a drive on the road, it was a nightmare, a week and a half's worth of project and software changes gone. To make matters worse, my company's IT guys sent the drive out to one of Gillware's "Competitors" (As it turns out, there really isn't any competition). We were quoted a staggeringly expensive price and the drive was sent off. Suddenly the already expensive data recovery doubled in price with no explanation and accompanied by an almost threatening letter informing us that we either had to pay the price or a $100 diagnostic fee or the drive and data would not be returned. When we refused to pay the nearly $2,000 price tag and reluctantly paid the $100 fee, our drive was still held for weeks. All the while, my data was in limbo and projects relying on it were stalled.
A friend of mine mentioned that his company regularly used Gillware with great success and at a reasonable price, so I checked it out. It was a downright pleasant experience arranging things with Gillware. They have a file viewer that will show you what files they were able to recover (In my case, it was all of them) and if they don't recover what you want, YOU DON"T HAVE TO PAY THEM. On top of all that, they quoted the lowest price I could find anywhere and that was the price I actually paid them. Also, I did the option to buy and external drive from them to get the data back and they sold the drive (250GB Western Digital Passport) for the same price you'd pay anywhere else rather than hiking it up. The whole process only took a week or so.
I would recommend Gillware to anyone and would definitely use them again myself.
My hard drive crashed and I was devastated....everything was lost. We took it to some computer "experts" and were informed it was completely gone, irretrievable, and the only hope was to spend an obscene amount of money for an attempt at data recovery. My company's IT guy then looked at other options and happily, he found Gillware!! Not only did they recover 100% of the hard drive, but they were timely, professional, and fair priced! Their customer service was excellent and we highly recommend them to anybody in a devastating data situation. Thank you Gillware!
I have been a photographer for the last five years. I have always backed up my files on external hard drives. I thought I had a relatively good system. I got an order for a wedding that I had shot. I plugged in the drive and it started clicking and making strange noises. My computer would no longer see the drive. I took the drive to a lady that worked on drives with such problems here in Bozeman. She said the drive was ruined and I probably wouldn’t see any information off the drive. I googled data recovery and looked at a few websites. I called a few of them and was very disappointed by the lack of customer service and knowledge on the product they sold. Then I called Gillware. The customer service agent was on the ball, every question I had he had a competent answer for. After talking for 5 minutes on the phone I agreed to send my drive to them. I got email instructions on how to pack send and ship the drive to them in about 10 minutes after I hung the phone. During the process not only did they email me updates on the status of my drive but they called as well, just to give me updates. Gillware recovered 100% of the data off my drive. They understand it is one of a kind precious data and treat it as such. The level of customer support they provided is unmatched. This also goes for their pricing. As far as I have found they are the best value for any data recovery. If any of my drives go bad in the future I will send them to Gillware in a heart beat.
After my computer crashed I was not sure what I was going to do. I had just lost about 4 months of work and countless personal files that I thought were lost for good. My next step was to find someone to try to recover the data off the hard drive. After many searches I came across Gillware who were very straight forward with there pricing and there were no up front fees. After only a few days from sending the drive to them I received a call telling me that they had recovered 99% of the drives information.
I would recommend Gillware to anyone.

I had been sold on the reliability of external hard drives and was pretty happy with my decision...until one fateful day. The drive pretty much stalled out and wasn't even recognizable by my computer. This was two months after both my wedding and honeymoon and it is pretty safe to say that I would have been in significant trouble if I didn't come up with a solution quick. I work for a software company and I've seen my IT department work miracles, but even they were lost. I found Gillware and they said I should send it on in and they would have a look at it. I immediately inquired about price as I had already made several calls to other vendors, and was exceptionally pleased to find out they would do it for the least amount! Inside of one week I heard back from them and they let me know what the final cost was going to be and also that they were going to be able to save 100% of my data. SAVED! I don't know where I would be without Gillware, but sleeping on the couch would have been a positive outcome if they couldn't have saved my data.
I am so relieved getting my pictures of my rapidly changing 2, 5, and 7 year olds, after I thought the pictures were gone! I went with another data recovery company, and despite how competent they touted themselves, they were not able to recover any data, but offered to send it to someone else. I did not feel comfortable with that, and found Gillware in an internet search. In all the companies I researched, I never heard of a company showing you exactly what they could recover BEFORE you were obligated to pay for it. This was crucial for me, because I only needed 20% of my lost data. The other 80% I already had backed up. In sharp contrast from the other company, Gillware was able to recover my data. Finally, despite the additional work necessary on my drive, Gillware kept to their standard price for me, which was just over half of the next least expensive company.
Having my drive go bad was unfortunate, not having it backed up was careless, but finding Gillware was great!
