My father apprenticed to his father-and I apprenticed to mine, repeating an invaluable tradition of child labor and a great place to learn a trade. Beginning at the age of 13, I worked with my dad every weekend and summer vacation in homes throughout Philadelphia repairing and rewiring all levels of residential electrical systems. Studying electrical engineering and earning a degree in architecture has given me a solid advantage in solving the myriad of residential electrical problems. I've been through a lot of contractors -- and a handful of electricians -- and I've never come across a more reliable and professional set of guys.
First, they're punctual -- they actually show up when they say they will! This was unprecedented for me.
Second, they're courteous -- they even put on little booties as soon as they step into your house, so as not to drag dirt inside. That's a small thing, for sure, but significant.
And finally, they go above and beyond. Because of some shoddy construction, we had to have these guys back on several occasions to do the same job, and they come without complaint or extra cost.
Top notch. Give them a shot -- I challenge you to find better.

I have now used G3 Electric twice, and am extremely happy with the results both times. G3 rewired our entire house before we moved in two years ago. Our 100 year-old house had old knob-and tube wiring which was in a dangerous condition. G3 rewired our entire house from top to bottom - a huge job, including a new circuit breaker box in the basement. They completed this extremely complex job in just one week, knowing we were ready to move in. We hired them because they are the best and they came through for us. Today, G3 came out and put up a custom ceiling fan for us. They arrived on time, were completely pleasant and professional, and finished the whole job in just 1/2 hour. We highly recommend these guys - they do excellent work and are highly professional. They also adhere to their guaranteed work. As far as the other reviews here complaining about the price - it's true G3 is not the cheapest contractor, but you get what you pay for. Personally, I would rather pay a little more for excellent electrical work. Those other ""cheap"" contractors are generally unlicensed and unreliable - and who wants to take a chance with your home's wiring? You get what you pay for, and I completely recommend G3 electric.
the company came out and put in lines for my big screen tv. they used silver pipes on my brick wall in my living room ..it looks like crap. trhey charged us $1365 . I had another company out to see if it was right because it looked so bad and they laughed at it and said it was like a commercial or restaurant job. They showed me flat pipe and said they could paint it t match , it was beige in color .I was so impressed with them I had them redo the work that generation 3 did for under $400 and it looks great . I would not recommend Generation 3 .
Overpriced and outrageous. I got 4 estimates on rewiring a home , 1 was $ 8000. 1 was 9500. , another was 11,000 ..they wanted to charge me $34,000 !!! Thats TRIPLE what everyone else wanted . I suggest calling a fairly priced company because they are so far out of the ballpark .

Generation recently completed a major update to the electrical system in my aged center city house. The work included a new breaker panel, new circuits, and diagnosis and repair of a variety of issues from simple receptacles to a complete tracing of all of the circuits in the house.
Todd was supervisor on the job and did a terrific job. He carefully reviewed all of the work done by the 3 other workers who came to the house (one of whom is a principal of the company).
They showed up when they said they would, worked within the quotes for the various parts of the project and treated my wife and I, as well as each other, with respect and good humor.
When new issue arose, Todd made sure that I understood the issue and the choices of solutions.
They cleaned up after themselves and left us delighted with the quality of their work.
Having spent quite a few years purchasing goods and services as part of my work responsibilities, I am better positioned than many homeowners to judge their work.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Generation 3 to anyone needing their services and their professional approach to their trade.
After reading the many reviews -- the vast majority of which were glowing -- of this outstanding phila-based business, i gotta say that the few negative postings strike me as little more than the petty rants of Gen-3's competitors who find it easier to smear a business than it is to earn a solid reputation on the merits of their own good work.
I'm a small-business owner myself and I know the damage that can be done by unscrupulous posters. All I can say is, your pathetic attempt to discredit this business is transparent! And to anyone looking for an honest, hardworking and competitive electrical contractor, look no further than Generation 3.
Keep up the great work guys.
I have recently relocated to the Philadelphia area and have utilized GEN 3 on numerous occasions to perform electrical services and installations. They are professional, courteous and expeditious. Gen 3 performed the work for my business as quoted in a timely manner. I would highly recommend them for all of your electrical needs. Two thumbs up!
I am a new business owner who has all the associated problems with opening a new business. The service I received from Generation 3 Electric was superb. Bottom line, I worry about three things: time of work needed to be done, quality of work, and cost. On all three fronts, Generation 3 Electric delivered.
We had these guys rewire our 2nd and 3rd floors to replace some old knob and tube, install smoke detectors for the house and about 12 high hats and fan for our bedroom. Very professional, knowledgeable and friendly guys that did our work. We got a few estimates and they weren't the cheapest but definitely gave us the impression that the job would be done right quickly, safely and to code, so we went with them. Worth the extra few bucks for the piece of mind. Everything turned out super, we're really happy. We will be having them back when we re-do our kitchen, for sure.
I just have to say I find the few bad reviews on here to be a bit suspicious. A few of them are identical or virtually identical, kind of seems like some other electrician is trashing other local electricians. Also, a lot of the remaining "bad" reviews complain about the high pricing of replacing a light switch or outlet. Come on people think about it, it doesn't matter if a switch/outlet costs $3.00, electricians still have to pay employees, put gas in the truck, spend business time driving to the location, just to replace a simple outlet/switch. What do you expect???
