I've been with Geico for my autos for about 26 years because they take good care of me and my family when unfortunate things happens with confirmimg call backs and email confirmations on claims, updates and information. Their great customer service skills beats most other insurance companies when I'm making my claims etc., which is why I continued to stay with them.
I called Geico last week, and spoke with "Catherine Collver", in regards to adding my girlfriend to my auto insurance policy; she asked me a few questions, including how much my girlfriend would be driving a month. I explicitly said "she would be driving 2 to 3 times a month". At the end of the call, my policy went from 163$ to 288$.
After getting off the phone, my girlfriend and I discussed the price per month vs. her taking public transportation, and decided that paying 117$ extra a month was silly, just to have the privilege of driving 2 to 3 times. So I called back to cancel, and the same woman told me that they couldn't take her off, because I told her that my girlfriend was already driving the car.
The conversation escalated into an argument (I said "she WOULD BE driving", not "she's ALREADY driving"), and she tried to cut me off numerous times. She said that I had to send them proof that she was insured by another company before they would take her off. I told her I didn't want to be a Geico customer anymore, and I hung up.
This is the worst experience I've ever had with an insurance company; now I'm with State Farm, I'm paying a lot less, and I get more benefits. Stay away from Geico.
When we first got this insurance it was fine for the first month. We paid for 6 months in full. Then they started pinging our account and trying to take out money from it. After calling them they said it was their mistake and would be solved. This is now the 5th time they have tried to withdraw money from our account, and the fifth time we have called, and been told it would be resolved. They said they would call us back two days ago, and still haven't given us an answer, and to add insult to injury they have cancelled our auto insurance even though we did nothing against the contract and they keep claiming it's their mistake. After this is up, we are switching my husband's account over to progressive because there is no way we will ever sign another contract with geico for anything. I would recommend that you find a different more honest car insurance company unless you enjoy having money missing from your accounts and sitting on hold for two hours every month.
Wish ZERO Stars was an option. Don't let a slightly lower rate lull you into thinking this is a good Insurance company to use. There CLAIM Service is the WORST I or any of my family members have ever been associated with.
ALL PROMISES OF TIMELY CLAIM HANDLING ARE FALSE!!!
1) The Adjuster is supposed top look at vehicle in 48 hours, and it took all of 4 days (and at the very end of day at that)
2) When additional work was identified by repair shop, they didn't come back within the next 48 hours--- but instead it took well over 8-9 days for the adjuster to come back to authorize the incremental work.
3) By far...... more information/feedback was provided by the body shop than the Geico personnel.
4) Calling Customer Service to complain only provided sorrowful platitudes, but no empowerment for action.
We have incurred 5 weeks SO FAR (and it's to be at least 1 more week) of borrowing cars or renting them at incredibly high rates. Not having the rental reimbursement coverage is probably our biggest mistake. I BET "IF" GEICO WAS PAYING FOR DAILY RENTAL REIMBURSEMENT, THIS 6 WEEKS (hoping no longer still) TIMELINE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO MORE THAN 2 WEEKS.
DO NOT EVER USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just started my policy with GEICO at the Corpus Christi office and not only did I save money but the customer service I recieved was wonderful! There are still professionals who want my business. I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you Ariel Garcia staff - keep up the good work!
CLAIM CLOSED......WHAT GOOD IS INSURANCE IF YOU CAN'T USE IT WHEN YOU NEED IT?

I had made my payment to Geico paying my iaccount up till Dec. 7,2011. I have 2 vehicles insured with them which both have full coverage, SO I THOUGHT! Recently we had a limb fall on the paid off vehicle and when I called on 10/10/11 to make a claim I was told I only had liabilty on this vehicle, WHAT A MINUTE.....I have been paying for full coverage from day one. So, a claim gets made after fussing and complaining that I have a $250.00 deductible on this vehicle, they assign the claim to an ADJUSTER INVESTIGATER (Ashley) I now have to leave a message for her after talking with 2 people already. Come 4:30 pm no call no call. I call back on 10/11/11, This time I talk to Ashley, only for her to tell me that she will be investigating to see what happened with the insurance and also she will need a COPY OF THE BILL OF SELL ON THE VEHICLE. (WHAT???????????) WHY? Oh, to see if the claim will be paid or not. So today 10/19/11, I go online to check the status of the claim to find it was closed on 10/14/11. I call back, talk with Ashley again, who this time can send me over to SERVICE to see what they can do. REALLY? Here we go............transfer........WHEN THEY DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH YOU THEY TRANSFER YOU! Now, I'm at service, Well lets see what is going on, ok here is what we can do I can add the full coverage back on and it will on take affect on future claims but not this one. I am furious, I tell the woman that I have done what I was suppose to and it is not my fault that they had human error on GEICOs side, she tells me she is sorry that I feel that was and once again they can re-add the full coverage. REALLY, IF YOU ONLY PAID $217.00 EVERY 6 MONTHS FOR FULL COVERAGE WOULD YOU CHANGE IT?
Looks like I will be making my call back to STATE FARM who still has 1 of the 3 vehicles we own. I have been with State Farm for 22 years and not once have they changed a policy of mine in just a conversation while a payment was processing.
GUESS YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, I DO NOT SUGGEST GEICO UNLESS YOU CAN WALK INTO A OFFICE AN DEAL WITH SOMEONE FACE TO FACE.
I WOULD GIVE GEICO NO STARS IF I COULD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Geico was our insurence company when we were involved in an accident a month ago that WAS NOT our fault. Geico lost our car not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR times. The didn't know where THEIR tow company had taken our car! We feel as if Geico has treated us as if this accident was OUR fault, and that we should be doing all the ground work to get this car fixed (and located, apparently). I feel that if we are PAYING for insurance, the insurance should be the ones responsible for getting the car fixed. We have been having to call EVERYONE, from the other people's insurance, to the rental car place, the collision body center, the tow company, to now a lawyer because both Geico and the other people's insurance refuse to pay to fix our car. All for a wreck that wasn't our fault. Aren't we paying monthly dues so that when this sort of thing happens the INSURANCE company will take care of it? Geico told us that they couldn't do anything about the other company not paying for the car to be fixed, and that we would have to contact them ourselves if we wanted anything done. What kind of company does that? We have medical bills from an ER trip after the accident that they refuse to do ANYTHING about! Do yourself a favor, go with a company that isn't cheaper, but that will WORK FOR YOU more than their bottom line. We are changing insurance TODAY!
I recently was rear ended by another car who was covered by Geico. Within 10 minutes of me calling Geico, their Customer Service Rep told me I was at fault and should call my insurance company. How did they know this? They hadn't seen any photos, had not even spoken with their covered driver yet. I did not alert my insurance, but Geico did. Still 40 days into this the other Driver will not give my insurance company a statement, Geico still denies coverage, I paid my deductible and GEICO basically tells me/my insurance company to sue them. For such a small claim I highly doubt my company will go after them. I find it interesting that in a rear end collision, Geico won't take responsibility, but yet they also are not claiming I am somehow responsible either. My guess is that Geico is probably one of the cheaper insurers, but they spend ALL their $$ on TV ads and DENYING CLAIMS! Do yourself a favor and spend at most an extra $50 annually and go with a better more reputable insurance company. ANYBODY EXCEPT GEICO!!
Customer Service is exceptional! I used to call and the phone wouldn't even ring before an always very nice rep got on and always says &quot;Who do I have the pleasure of speaking to today?&quot; and &quot;How are you?&quot; If you ask them how they're doing, they always say &quot;Thanks for asking&quot;- how nice! They answer all my questions, no matter how detailed, repetitive, time consuming, and sometimes stupid! lol. I've had to cancel numerous times (money issues) they ALWAyS take me back- right away (same day) no questions asked. Great rates, 4 month plan (don't pay for 2 months- nice). If I'm short on cash, they'll try again for free within 3 days. Or push it back for 1 or 2 weeks and maintain my coverage. Documents always out, and on time. Great roadside assistance - &quot;I'm sorry you're having a bad day&quot;- no really I'm not- I have you guys. Come to my HOME and jump my car. Rep was out here in 2 hours (said it'd be next day, or 5 hours, due to ice). Tech was so darn nice! Had an accident- very nice. Mailed my check- I didn't cash it for like 8 monthes. They kept calling and re-issuing the check. No atttitude of inconveniece- even though i was incoveniencing them!! A+++
