Their "technicians" are the same guys that install your washing machine. Took over a week to get my computer back, and the problem wasn't fixed!!! After some research it looks like they send most repairs out of state to a central repair facility. The "geeks" working at the store don't do anything, and therefore don't need to know anything. Find someone in town that actually knows what they are doing.
First, I purchased the Geek Squad service when I purchased my new computer because I was told that I could drop my computer off to be cleaned (it's very dusty here), do some shopping, and pick it back up in a couple of hours. I was told, in fact, that many people brought their computer in to be cleaned on a monthly basis. However, when I brought my computer in to be cleaned, I was told it would 7 days before I could pick it up again, and that none of their employees would have told otherwise. I run a business and CANNOT be without my computer for more than a day! (And this was just a couple of weeks after I had called the Geek Squad in a panic because I had mistakenly deleted some files I needed, and then emptied my recycle bin. The tech had to put me on hold to find out what to do, then he came back and told me it wasn't something that could be done over the phone, so I'd have to bring my computer in. I decided to just Google the problem, and I found a FREE program that restored all of my files in about 30 minutes.) Needless to say, I cancelled my service and got a refund. Don't waste your money.
