How did we get started? In 1983, I needed a job. I had heard about cleaning chimneys when we lived in Germany. I used to see the sweeps dressed in there traditional garb, top hat old tails and riding there bicycle. They would carry there tools on there shoulder. This was a rope and brush with a small cannon ball at the end for a weight. This were used to clean the chimney. Unlike in the USA, chimney cleaning is the law in Europe and can only be preformed by a person hired and trained by the state. Member of the National Fire Protection Association since 2008. The NFPA is responsible for fire codes related to chimney construction in buildings. The Code is NFPA 211 if you want to look it up. At Black Velvet Chimney Services,we have had extensive training in masonry repairs, leak and flashing repair.We can install chimney flue relining. We carry Energy Saving Dampers. We provide the following services: chimney inspection,cleaning,repair,caps, custom covers, masonry repairs such as lose bricks on top of the chimney and inside the firebox.
