Appliance Sales Plus

I did my research with the big box stores then decided to check out a few mom and pop shops in my area. After striking out with a few stores in Pound Ridge and Mount Kisco because of their prices, I tried out Appliance Sales Plus in Somers. The salesmen I spoke to greeted me quickly, was very polite, knew his stuff and really listened to what I needed. I gave him the model numbers of the four appliances I was interested in and within five minutes he came back with a price about $480 lower than any of the big box stores along with $300 in manufacturer rebates. I felt like I hit the jackpot. Thanks Appliance Sales Plus!

Big mistake...go anywhere else.



I had been purchasing appliances here due to their proximity to a few rental units I own. There prices have always been more than everywhere else but I figured that if I needed service, it would pay off. Was I ever wrong.



Paying a bit more for good service is certainly worth the expense. Unfortunately, you will pay more here for the appliances and get the worst possible service experience of your life.



To start with the service manager, Renee, is belligerent and incompetent. Not a very nice combination. She had attitude from the very start, and takes the position that she is doing you some kind of favor in getting a service tech to your home.



But, as bad as the above is, it gets worse. The tech that comes....when ever he comes...because no one will give you a straight answer on that question, doesn't know what he is doing. Specifically, a dryer less than 2 months old stops working. I call them for service, they give me the runaround on an appointment and finally get someone to my home 3 days later.....6 hours past the time they were supposed to be here. Gets better....the tech..after 10 minutes makes his diagnosis of "bad switch", part is not in the truck, and leaves. Does someone call to follow up?...maybe with a return date? No. I have to call them only to find out the part is now ordered and will be there in a day or so. OK...wait the a few days...no call. I call again only to find out that they don't know when the part is coming in.



Long story short...they never once called me. I made every single call to them to hear different stories of why the part was or was not in. Finally, two weeks later, I order the part direct from Whirlpool, it comes in a day. I install the part (I am an electrical engineer), turns out the switch diagnosed as faulty by the tech was not the issue.



OK...so I waited two weeks for nothing due to the technician error. Now comes the apology, and the fast service call etc.... Wrong, more run-around. I was added to the service schedule and given an ambiguous "he will be there in the afternoon". Well he never showed up.



There is no compelling reason for anyone to use this company for appliances or heaven help you, for service. If you value your time at all, you will pay a small fortune for the privilege of bad customer/tech service.



In a nutshell....GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE.

Don't bother with Appliance Sales Plus if you're looking for "authorized service." Contrary to standard agreements with the appliance manufacturers, they will only provide service if you bought the appliance from them. Their service department did not make this distinction when I called and set up an appointment, and I ended up wasting a day at home. After realizing that I did not make my purchase from them, they stormed out of my home as if I did something wrong. I will be asking the manufacturer to remove them from their authorized service center list.
