I am Chad Campbell, owner of Appalachian Ecologic, and I am passionate about the environment, sustainable design, people, and our connection with nature. I received my B.S. environmental science from Brevard College in 2007, where I focused on ecology and sustainable land management. I received my M.S. Urban Forestry from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA in February 2012, focusing on soils and carbon sequestration. Aside from school, I have been studying and practicing landscape design and horticulture for the past ten years.
My life's work is finding creative and sustainable ways to manage our valuable Southern Appalachian landscapes and all the beauty and diversity that they hold. I am dedicated to the success of my work and guarantee my plants and designs. Gardening is not a one-time installation and done, but a long-term evolutionary process involving natural forces, gently guided by human hands to suit our needs.
I work with clients to connect what they want from their landscape with creative ways to meet their goals that are environmentally sound. I work hard to find the most cost-effective approach that will create the most impact for the client's budget. Let me help you make your garden dreams come true.

Chad created a beautiful dry stream bed and rain garden for the hill on the side of our house where two gutters drain. He also solved some of our other garden problems, made suggestions regarding which plants we could use in the rain garden and showed us how to prune our serviceberry tree. He is a joy to work with and his prices are reasonable. We will definitely be using his services in the future.
