New menu and wine list - SUPERB!!!!!!!!!

There has been a HUGE improvement over the past months at both Stoney River locations. The menu has changed with some fabulous improvements, the staff is friendlier and more attentive and the wine list is just an incredible improvement. There is a noticeable upward trend going on in these restaurants which sets them apart from their competitors. This is a great choice for the money. Steaks are cooked perfectly, seafood additions are delicous and the expansion of the wines are a great idea. Go Stoney River!

Cozy & Yummy

When I want a quality filet cooked med rare this is my ""GO TO"". The meat is always cooked to perfection. The Shrimp cocktail is yummy too. Not to mention the bread is A MA ZING! I prefer to sit in a booth away from the bar area. The bar area and main dining area can get a little loud sometimes. But that is prob due to the fact that everyone is having a good time! It reminds me of a upscale lodge. Very Cozy. Call ahead for reservations b/c I am not alone in my thoughts about this place.

Horrible, Horrible Food and Service

Where do I start?

When a friend and I first arrived at the restaurant, the valet parked are car and we proceeded to go inside to get a table. They had just opened for the night so when we asked for a table, the hostess said that there weren't any tables ready and also that they weren't open. She asked us, ""Would we like to wait?"". We weren't in a rush so we did.

When they were finally ready, the hostess brought us to our table but to our surprise, there were already about 3 tables seated and noone had come in after us. Every table in the dining room had silverware and were placed. The hostess was very belittling.

Next, we order our steak and my friend ordered his medium rare. While we were waiting for our steaks to come out, the manager then tells my friend that they are unable to get the steak to a temperature of medium rare and that they would only be able to get it at medium. Could someone explain to me how you can only get a steak to medium which is past medium rare if it's raw meat?

Noone ever thanked us for coming even after they knew it was our first time here. As my friend and I left, the hostess was talking to her co-worker. She looked up at us, I smiled, she looked away and that was that. I felt unwanted as a guest except you know, when they asked for my 100 dollars for a horrible meal.

I later talked to the management about it the next day. However, there's no use in complaining to them because they will do nothing about it and they don't seem too concerned about it.

I would rather go to Logans than this place. The food is average. At least give me amazing service and horrible food or vice versa but horrible service and horrible food and a no no.

ordered my steak medium rare. it came back a tiny bit pink in the middle only.

Bad Meat, Bad Cooking, Bad Service: Worst High End Steakhouse

I just thought I'd let everyone know that if you're looking for a high end steak experience, avoid Stoney River at all costs. They charge premium prices, but their meat isn't very good, and they managed to overcook my prime rib and my friend's sirloin, both of which were ordered medium rare. Medium rare is not gray and dry inside. I can excuse that at Logan's or Sizzler, but not at a place charging 40 for a steak. Their ""rolls"" are more like donut holes, complete with honey cinnamon butter. Not something you'd really want with a savory steak. Their corn chowder was rather anemic, and their potatoes are absolutely WRETCHED. We both took one bite of the caramelized onion potatoes and spat it back up. It was so sweet it made the both of us gag. I know what caramelized onions taste like; rich and sweet, but not Snicker's bar sweet. Not Snicker's bars mashed with what could have been boxed potato flakes, they were that smooth and runny.

We tried to flag down some of the wait staff, but were rebuffed by silence. They all acted like they were too busy to help us, and our waitress was absent most of the night. She took our order, gave us our food, and then disappeared. My beer glass ran empty after a couple of bites of dry beef, and I couldn't even get somebody to get me a refill. It was a Friday night, but the place was only half full. Despite being half full, we were seated right next to the service entrance to the kitchen and bar, and so in addition to bad food, we were treated with an endless stream of people ignoring us and people dropping drinks (happened twice) in front of our table. Wonderful ambiance. I wrote the manager about my experience, and he was very apologetic. He offered to send me a certificate 4 weeks ago, but of course it never came.

So don't go there. Ruth's Chris, Morton's, the Palm....all head and shoulders above this crapfest.

Terrible Waiters and Ambience

I love a good steak. I love it medium rare, and I love it without sauces or excessive spices. In addition to a good steak, I love great service. I am not Donald Trump. If I spend 50 dollars on a meal, I expect it to be above average. I expect the food to be great, and I expect the service to be trouble free.

Stoney River struck out on all counts. The restaurant was virtually empty, but my partner and I were completely ignored. Perhaps it was because we weren't wearing a cardigan over shirts with expensive chinos, or perhaps it because we weren't white enough, but our waiter came by exactly three times. At the few other tables that were occupied, I saw waiters and bus boys and even the manager making the rounds, making sure everything was OK. Not a word was said in our direction.

If the food had been half decent, perhaps I could have forgiven the bad service. Sadly, this was not so. The ribeye I ordered was severely overcooked. Medium rare means cool pink in the center, not warm gray. Dry aging does not help if the steak is overcooked into something resembling shoe leather. The potatoes were inedible. My wine glass went empty almost immediately after I cut into my steak, but nobody came by to offer me more, nor to check and see if our steaks are fine. I shan't be back. When our check came, we asked to see the manager, but nobody came by after 10 minutes and so we left. Never to return.

very good meal

We enjoyed our meal at Stoney River. My prime rib was excellent and so were the garlic mashed potatoes. My wife said that part of her ribeye was tough but over all it was good. The service was superb. We were not that impressed by the head of lettuce salad, the bleu chees dressing was not very good.

Amazing as always

Last night, my husband and I had an amazing dinner. We had the whiskey shrimp appetizer, which was divine; I had the pecan encrusted swordfish, my husband had the 16 ounce prime rib. Our meals, the service and everything about the evening was wonderful, as always. Our water glasses were never less than half-full, and they were immediately re-filled; my before dinner drink, the mojito, was excellent! We were too full for dessert, but their doughnut rolls serve as a ""mini-dessert."" We greatly enjoyed our night, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great night out! Call ahead for priority seating.

Very average visit from someone that frequents SR on Jan 4th 2008

I always order my lodge filet medium. We received all of our sides but my steak was cooked very rare. We then sent it back""which was acceptable to us.. As our side items were getting cool, they brought the steak back after a few minutes and asked me to cut into it again. I could still see very little difference before thee first time I sent it back. Due to our sides starting to get cold, I decided to continue on with the steak. The sauteed mushrooms were very sub-par at best.. We also eat at this restaurant about once every two weeks. And we usually have an excellent experience. I ended up eating around the edge of my steak, and that was all I could stomach. When our waiter arrived he asked if I was already done with my steak and I told him it was still well undercooked for what I ordered. THIS WAS THE BIG PART THAT GOT ME. He then just said do you want me to bag it up for you?? Now how many people go to a steak house and ask their waiter to bag up their filet for the road so I can throw it back on the grill at home. He was not helpful at all and just dropped the check. I will start asking for a waiter by name on future trips. I believe we will start going back to Flemings for a while after that experience.

The bread is AWESOME!! The steaks so tender!!!

Oh, what can I say about Stoney River. My husband and I went for our anniversary and absolutely loved it. The bread and butter was so tasty. The menu was full of wonderful sounding entrees. We tried the lobster tail for appetizer, our first time trying lobster. It was good. We both got the filet and boy was it delicious. The steaks were so tender and juicy. The seasonings were awesome on the steaks. We also got a free dessert since it was our anniversary and I had called ahead and requested a reservation. We were not expecting the free dessert, but it was very thoughtful of them to give it to us complimentary. The server was so sweet and let us take our time ordering, we never felt rushed at all. Oh and the salad was delicious also. We actually went March 1, 2007 and we are going again this saturday for Father's Day. I am looking forward to it!!!!!

Great atmosphere, good service and good food!

My husband and I went here Friday for a late Valentine's. We had a great experience. We had to wait about 30 min. before we were seated. But I knew that may happen ahead of time. They do not take reservations, but they do call ahead seating with the longest wait time being 30 min. Which I had called ahead. While we waited for our table we sat at the bar and had a glass of wine. The bartenders were very nice. The atmosphere was nice. They have complimentary valet parking. As soon as you walk in the door there is a fireplace. Very nice. Our server was great and the food was very good. Yes it is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. The rolls were awesome. I had the the Twin Tenderloin Medallions and my husband had the Triple Beef Medallions ""Oscar"". We both really enjoyed our food. The steaks were very tender and tasty. We will be back!

Where to start???

What an amazing experience! My husband and I drove up and he dropped me at the front door while he went to park. Well, he was in before I had even made it to the bar because they have complimentary valet parking! We had actually called for Advanced Seating (where they say they will seat you within 30 minutes of your ""reservation"") and found that there would be a 15-25 minute wait. We went to the bar and had the best bartenders! They recommended a great martini for me and encouraged us to order their Whiskey Shrimp appetizer while we waited. The shrimp came out at the same time as our table was ready so the bartender followed us to our table with our drinks and appetizer! What service!!!

Once we sat down our server came over and told us all about the steaks, told us about some specials and then left. After that, our server was soooo great! Never interrupted us, but made sure we had everything we needed! I got a filet while my husband got this HUGE, and tasty, ""Cowboy"" steak. We agreed that each steak was the best we had EVER had! We also got a bottle of fabulous wine that our server recommended and he also seemed to know a lot about!

Anyway, without going on and on, I have to say that this was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had! I've been in the restaurant industry for years and eat out a lot and the biggest thing I noticed was that everyone we came into contact with seemed to be very comfortable with what they were doing. That's a hard feeling to describe to people who haven't been in the industry, but it makes the ""inexperienced"" leave with a warm, fuzzy feeling. Kind of like you were just at a really good friends house for anamazing dinner.

Definitely go!!! It is worth every penny!!!

Dinner is very expensive for what you get - salad was mainly iceberg lettuce and chicken was extremely cold. Service was bad and there was only us and one other table in the whole place. That should have given us a warning not to try it but we did and we were sadly disappointed. The rolls and butter were the best part of the whole meal.

Lunch was awesome

I took my wife here for lunch on our anniversary. We had been to the one in Cool Springs on several occassions but never for lunch. They didn't serve lunch. The new one had a lunch menu that we hadn't seen. My wife and I took 20 minutes to decide what we were having. She had the steak sandwich and I had the fried grouper sandwich. Both were delicious. I highly recommend it for lunch or dinner. Go while the Titans are playing. You'll have their undivided attention.

Lunch and Dinner Were Great

I've gone several times for lunch and for dinner and have found both experiences wonderful. They are doing a super job with the dinner meal--steaks are flavorful and the service is wonderful. Lunch was a nice surprise. I found a number of memorable items, not just the normal lunch meals, and was blown away by teh Shrimp Mac and Cheese and the Tenderloin Sandwich. I'd encourage you to go; new location but no construction in the area and the people are great.
