When a car is damaged by an accident or weather, what can be repaired and what must be replaced? Or is it time to buy a new car?
No matter whether an accident involved a freshly licensed teen or an experienced driver, knowing what to do (or not do) is essential to bouncing back.
All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
I really wanted to share my experience I've had at Galeana Chrysler. This was the first time I'd been blessed with a new car and my wife and I test drove a 2012 Chrysler 300 last year with Gary Haas and a 2012 Hyundai Genesis at a local Hyundai dealership. When we'd visit the Hyundai dealership, the care salesmen would run to our car, my wife and I did not like that at all. When we'd visit Galeana, they didn't do that and we were more comfortable there. My wife liked the 300 though I liked the Genesis more, but I gave in for the 300 and we began seriously praying for the 300 and when we returned to see Gary, he had been transfered to trucks and Dennis Leach introduced himself to us. We told him of the car we wanted and he offered to work with us as much he could to help us get the car we desired. He didn't pressure us, he just presented the car very professionally and personally with much respect to my wife and I and after a lengthy test drive, he was a very professional but friendly person that we both truly could see was not fake at all and we appreciated his honesty. We returned to the dealership and after I asked he informed us that he is a Christian so we all laid hands on the car and asked the Lord if it was Him will then let us take the car home and if not then not. Dennis actually honored that prayer and never once pressured us but presented the very best deal he could and allowed us to go and talk about it and we decided to go ahead with the purchase because we really believed that the Lord had blessed us with Dennis.Today I returned to have the car detailed and to have a piece installed that we had to wait to come in and I was going to stay to read and just chill but was unable to read due to the volume of business being done.Dennis calculated that our home was within the designated milage and he made arrangements to have me taken home and offered to bring my new car to me at home after it was detailed and finished. I was so impressed that I wanted to tell someone and after talking with the New Car Sales Manager, Mr. Monty Grim, (very professional), he asked if I'd be willing to share my experience, after I'd asked to tell it to him, I was more than happy to share it with you. I was led to the Marketing Director Mrs. Robin Griffins and was given directions on how to share this testimonial after thankinig me for giving thanks for my experience though I gave nothing, it was the dealership that gave to me.Once we had purchased the car, Dennis informed my wife and I that he did inform Gary that we did purchase the car and shared the sale with Gary. This is unheard of in this day and time of the (Me) generation that a man of integrity would do such a thing is a blessing in itself and my wife and I realized why GOD had led us here, integrity. We will purchase cars from Dennis and if you have a need for a truck, go and ask for Gary Haas, for a new ccar see Dennis Leach and Mitch. This is has been such a blessed experience that I just had to tell someone and I really pray that you go there and see these gentlemen it is not like any car buying experience that I've ever had. Sincerely; Timothy Shephard.
I take great care of my Mica Blue Toyota Mr2 Spyder, always parking away from others if possible - so when I came out of a store on Black Friday and saw a huge 3 foot dent in the drivers door and quarter panel 4 inches deep from a hit-and-run incident, I was floored. After contacting my insurance agent, it was recommended that I select an authorized Geico XPress facility for a hassle-free "guaranteed as long as you own the car" repair. There were three shops to choose from and after some due diligence I made Supreme Collision my choice, mostly based on the fact that Bentley of Naples sends all of their customers cars there as an authorized Bentley repair facility. I figured if they can satisfy owners of $200K+ cars, they should be able to satisfy me. Boy, was I right! From the moment I stepped into the shop and met the owner JR, I knew I was in good hands, not to mention that Enterprise Car Rental has an office in their shop - so Supreme Collision is literally a one-stop-shop. As JR assessed the car, I was concerned whether the paint application would match the rest of the body and whether the body could be repaired without replacing the door and fender. As extensive as the damage was, I thought it would be difficult or impossible to expect perfection but JR said "no problem, it will be done and you won't notice a thing" - so I left the shop in my Enterprise rental car with cautious optimism. Well, not only did Supreme Collision's excellent customer service manager Tonya send me pics of the entire repair process via text message, but the car was repaired in three days - and JR was true to his word! The repair was flawless, no ripples or bends in the bodywork and the paint was meticulously blended to perfection so it was impossible to notice any work was done on the car. To top it off, JR went the extra mile and removed some scratches and door dings on the side that wasn't subject to repair, and detailed the entire car - simply amazing. It's impossible to overstate the courtesy, professionalism, ethical standards, and satisfaction received from Supreme Collision of Naples - thanks to all the great staff at this well-run business!
We bought a 2015 MB ML 350 from Peter at Autohaus and all I can say is he is excellent and the dealership was very professional and paperwork was simple and correct. This was my first purchase from Autohaus of Naples. We bought car based on photos and descriptions from a google search for the car we were looking for. I called Peter and we talked at length about the car and its condition, etc. I placed a deposit and Peter held the vehicle till I could get down there. I flew down to Naples from Charlotte to check out the vehicle before purchase, partly because of previous reviews which I feel now are incorrect. The car was exactly as promised, condition was as described and paperwork was straight forward and accurate. No high pressure salesmanship. Drove vehicle 11 hours back to Charlotte with no issues or concerns. Peter followed up the next day to make sure I made it home and all was ok with the car. I was impressed with him and his organization and would buy again from them..
First class experience.Brought in my BMW 328i GT that I had driven into a ditch during a storm - the entire half of the car and back looked like it had been torn off. Pieces of my rear and bumper were everywhere and entire underbody of the car was covered in mud and debris. Had to be towed into the shop, completely un-drivable.From the moment I got there my mind was at ease. They know exactly what they're doing and deal with BMWs and all sorts of makes dealing with exact parts - quality part replacements. They handled everything with the insurance and made sure everything was fixed perfectly - down to a 1/2" scrape to a rear trim. Once I dropped it off there was zero work, zero haggling with insurance over repairs - was a seamless process.Received my car back quickly and it drove brand new. There's a reason BMW and so many people trust this shop - they do amazing work and I cannot praise them enough.
A great experience! I've purposely waited, until now to complete this review, because I wanted to make sure that we gave every opportunity for success or failure and I'm very happy top report SUCCESS! We purchased our Mercedes CLK 350 convertible back in September of 2015 and have had ZERO issues. The car runs great and we have also been back for service since our original purchase and have been very happy with the entire experience. Travis was fantastic! I'm in the automobile business and work for a new car OEM and have heard all about the "horror stories" of the "typical" used car store. When a new "car-guy" gives a used car store a "thumbs-up" then you know it's a great place to shop and shop and buy with confidence. Great job Autohaus and to anyone reading this, feel comfortable giving these guys a chance to earn your business.
Very good car buying experience. We bought a car from Autohaus from across the country. Bill Pahl was a pleasure to work with. He was very straight forward and accommodating to our concerns buying from a distance. Bill did everything he could to make us comfortable. We never did see the car in person prior to purchase. When we received the car, it was exactly as represented in the photos, video, and by Bill in our conversations. Unfortunately, the car did have some minor damage sustained during shipping. After repeated attempts by me to resolve the issue with the 3rd party shipper, I contacted Bill. He immediately took over and was able to obtain financial restitution from the shipper. He did not have to do this. It just reflects his commitment to customer service. I would absolutely buy another car from the Autohuas
I absolutely found this place by accident when my car started falling just a few blocks away, they have just a great team, excellent service, very knowledgeable. I was surprised how Peter (the owner) took the time to explain my issue and gave a loaner car, which was perfect! I was a little skeptical on what my bill was going to be loaner car and all but to my surprise it was sooo much less. Will definitely be using Auto Haus for all my next Mercedes services and I have already told my Husband to take his car too. Good Job!

I am a customer of Auto Haus for many years and I will tell you I would not let anybody else touch my cars beside those guys. They are excellent professionals.Last week I brought my Mercedes S 500 with a" check engine light" on and I thought I would be in a big trouble. They took in the car and just had to reset the code they would not even charge me for it,I was impressed how honest they are. They could come up with many histories but they did not. I recomend Auto Haus to all my friends
I have been taking my 08 Odyssey to Germain Naples in Honda for regular service and they have provided a fantastic service ensuring that my vehicle is in top condition. The friendly and professional staff at Germain Honda provides a great deal of comfort and confidence that you are in good hands. It is one of these very recent service trips that paved the way for getting a Certified Pre-owned Vehcile. Thanks to Robin for providing extensive details on the various options.
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
