I was very disappointed in Mel's Diner on Thanksgiving Evening. I have eaten at this restaurant many times before but my dinner Thanksgiving evening was not edible! I ordered the Ham dinner that included a salad, sweet potato, stuffing and corn. The ham was so salty and the mashed sweet potato tasted like baby food out of a jar. The corn was fine. The stuffing had no taste. The rolls served seemed a day or two old. I have had the blackened grouper salad before and it had always been delicious! Not sure if they have a new cook at Mel's Diner since I have stopped in for the blackened grouper salad but this dinner was not edible. I ordered a piece of coconut cream pie to take home and it did not taste like coconut cream pie. It was very heavy and I had to throw it out.
My family and I were visiting town and came across this place on Yelp. We decided to try it out and loved it. I highly suggest it.
Starbucks-a-holic would be a good word to describe me, as I definitely have a self inflected addiction to their coffee! This is one of two locations that I would call "my Starbucks!" Carly, the store manager, and her team are FaBoLoUs. When I visit the store I always receive a friendly greeting, by name, and my drink(s) are ready to go, thanks to mobile ordering!
Had dinner last night. Waiter never returned shortly after giving me my meal never asked me if I wanted another beer had to ask for a wet nap after eating my messey rib should have come with the meal. Never asked meal how my meal was onion rings were ice cold. Did not feel his lack of service was worthy of a 20% tip I left 15%. On the way out the waiter was walking behind me passing nasty comments like oh boy a got two dollars oh boy well I guess two dollars is better than nothing. He was trying to embarrass me but it didn't work. I hope young man you are reading this complaint because let me give you a piece advice. The next you get a tip that you may think is less than 20% ask yourself what was it that I didn't do that got me a small tip. Shame on you.
WHAT A SURPRISE. HAVING GONE TO THE GYPSY CAFE 12 TIMES DURING THE 2014 SEASON WITHOUT A PROBLEM, TONITE WE HAD A DOOZIE. ORDERING 2 ENTIRES THAT CAME WITH FRENCH FRIES, AND HAVING BOTH PARTIES NOT BEING ABLE FOR HEALTH REASONS,NOT BEING ABLE TO EAT FRENCH FRIES, WE ASKED IF ONE PARTY COULD SUBSISTUE ONION RINGS AND THE OTHER PARTY NOT HAVING A SIDE. BEING TOLD WE COULD NOT BY THE MANAGER BECAUSE OF COST REASONS. WHILE ONION RINGS have way less salt and have more protein so they would be healthier, THE COST OF 2 ORDERS OF FRIES OVER 1 ORDER OF RINGS COULD NOY BE COST EFFECTIVE.I ONLY HOPE THE LOSS OF 12 VISITS THIS YEAR IS WORTH IT FOR THE MANAGEMENT.
The view was great, service was good, but the food was terrible! The blackened grouper was not edible and was so tough it could not be cut with a knife. The manager was apologetic about the fish and said it shouldn’t have been brought the table, so we ordered a filet mignon and “lamb” instead. The filet was OK but the “lamb” was lousy and a joke at $38; It only had tiny bits of lamb mixed in with a tomato based sauce on pasta. The setting was great but not relaxing due to a play area being situated between our table and the beach which had numerous children jumping right in front of the us, doing cartwheels in the grass. The kettle one martinis were very good and pricey at $17 each. Baleen also charges $5.00 plus tip for valet parking (there is no self-parking), which should be complementary when spending a few hundred dollars for dinner. We'd consider going back for drinks sometime because the view is very nice, but we will never return for a meal again. This meal was a second chance given to La Playa after a disappointing meal last year.
bad customer service i had a party of 9 there was no host to seat us down waiting at the front at lease ten min while workers passing by so i stop one of the employee to seat us, then had to wait at lease 20min more and no never came to ask what are we drinking nothing, so my family & i just got up and left.
