General Info: Michelle Slocum is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults and elderly. Michelle works individually, with families, couples or in groups with clients struggling with wide-ranging concerns including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-injury, parenting issues, relationships, trauma and many more. Michelle practices from a Strength based, Positive Psychology, Dialectical, Cognitive Behavioral, and Client Centered Perspective. Michelle believes that all people have the right to be heard and feel empowered and important. She believes that all people are special and have the strength to overcome significant obstacles. She is exceptional at building therapeutic relationships that can help empower clients to be successful. Before beginning private practice, Michelle worked for non-profit agencies where she worked with individuals struggling with addictions, mood disorders, compulsive disorders, relational disorders, self-esteem, empowerment skill building and homelessness. She has worked extensively with children and families involved in foster care and DCFS care.
