over the 4th of july weekend i somehow got food poisining. on the morning of the sixth i woke up with all the classic symptoms. the problem was, i had my two year old and my husband was stuck at work. i called the office and they gave me the next available appointment, about an hour later. almost imediately upon arrival they had me, my two year old in toe, being seen even though it was before my appt time. She had some concerns so an xray and urine sample were needed. while taking care of these two tests both a nurse and the Physician's Asst sat with my son and kept him company...not an easy task when a two year old is concerned for mommy and in a new place. i would have never made it through the appt. if it werent for their extra special care and i would highly recomend them!
My husband is from the Loris area, and had been seeing Dr. Mark Hilz for about a year. He's recently moved to the upstate, but continued to travel in order to keep seeing Dr. Hilz. Upon his last visit, unfortunately, he was told that the Medical Center had lost his records, including his MRI. The staff then proceeded to blame my husband stating that he must have taken them. The staff then refused to allow my husband to be seen by the doctor until he had taken a drug test which would cost him $150. My husband was treated very disrespectfully and as if he were a common "drug seeker". My husband has been in a severe car accident several years ago, and has had to rely on medication for relief ever since. He has suffered major spinal injuries. Never have I experienced such poor treatment by a medical staff. Upon my call, the office manager told me that DHEC had been cracking down on Dr. Hilz, apparently due to his lack of discretion in writing prescriptions for controlled substances. This is no excuse for treating legitimate patients like undesirable drug addicts. The complete lack of organization and discretion, as well as the blatant disregard of my husbands feelings, not to mention the blaming of HIM for THEIR loss of records, is inexusable. I have no suggestions as to how they could improve this as I have lost any faith in the capabilities of Dr. Hilz and his staff. I recommend anyone with legitimate pain STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PRACTICE. However, if you're looking to make a quick buck on the street selling meds, Dr. Hillz may just be your man.
