A +++ in my families book.
I had a lightning strike and lost all my electronic equipment. I called Munster Electronics and they scheduled a picked up the same day. They worked with my insurance agent to repair or replace the equipment. I was shocked at the wide range of services (Home Theater installs, Television Repair, Installation and calibration, complete PC repair, major Apple product repair, and Laptop screen replacement). I had a laptop that B*** B** wanted to replace the screen for $899 and they repaired it for $149.00. I also had old electronic equipment that needed removed. They removed the equipment to go to a certified electronic recycle center. They guarantee that the data will be removed with a military grade wipe or destroyed (Hammer). I was very pleased with the service and the short time frame it took to complete.
I highly recommend Munster Electronics!!!!!
Had them come to our house to see what was wrong with our tv, charged us & told us what the problem was & said it would take a week to fix. Took over 2 weeks with calls to them because nobody kept us informed on what the reason was that it was taking longer. Got the tv back & didn't have any difference..fuzziness that was there before was still there. Wasted $170.00 to get the same tv back!!! NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Had the Munster electronics man come to our house to see what was wrong with our tv. We had some white fuzziness on our LCD HDTV. He came out for $50.00 and told us what was wrong with it and that it would take 1 week to fix the problem. We decided to take it in and they had it over 2 weeks. We had to keep calling them to see what was going on with it because they wouldn't keep us updated on the repair. Well, after more than 2 weeks without our tv and $120.00 more in repair costs, we have it back and see the same problem with it. There is no decrease in fuzziness at all. It looks like they just took our money and didn't do anything with it AT ALL!!! So upset, will be asking for my money back. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

I took my stereo receiver in after a lightning strike and power surge damaged the receiver. I paid the owner $40 for an assessment and estimate of repair.
After hearing nothing for 2 weeks I called the owner. He informed me that the receiver had extensive electrical damage caused by lightning, and gave me an estimate of $400 to repair. I already knew this, and requested that he let me know what parts needed replacing and how much labor would be. He refused to share this information, repeating it would be $400 to repair.
I explained to the owner of Munster electronics that when I had trouble with my computer, I took to a repair shop(Computer Doc in Homewood, IL) and paid $35 for an assessment. They told me everything that was wrong and told me the parts that needed replacing, and gave me an estimate of repair.
This Munster elec guy repeated that he does not do this. I explained to the owner that I had no proof that he had done anything, other than repeat the fact that I told him when I brought to him, ""it had extensive electrical damage caused by lightning.""
I looked around the store and noticed that his store was filled with used electronics that he had repaired and was reselling. I realized why he requested $400 for the repair of a receiver that I purchased new for $725 almost 7 years earlier. ITS A SCAM. He hoped I would say its too expensive to repair and ""junk it at his shop"", so that he could repair it, for much less than $400, I'm sure, and resell it for $350-$400.
This guy has a lucrative scam operation, though small scale. Avoid him at all cost.
HINT: get everything in writing and make sure you request a written assessment of what was tested and what parts need replacing BEFORE you hand them any money or sign anything. Remember oral promises are nothing more than lip service, and this MUNSTER ELECTRONICS is proof of this. AVOID MUNSTER ELECTRONICS AT ALL COST.
My Grandmother called this company just today to ask a simple question. He male(I say male because no man should speak to a Lady this way) interrupted her and proceded to tell her that what she was requesting was basicly stupid. She recived their name from a chamber of commerce reccomending them. As far as I'm concerned any person that can't answer a Lady's question without being rude shouldn't be reccommended for anything. She would have given them a pretty penny to come out and fix her problem, now they can try to make their money elsewhere.
