Supposed to be the best pizza around, but uuurggghhh (bad)

Hubby and I were visiting his parents on his birthday last week, and they meant well to take us out to the best Pizza place they know in their town.

A look on the menue was then already going into minus, as it was the regular fast food fare they offered.

So we went with Pizza. Hubby and his Mom shared a regular (""plain"") Pizza (in this area that means they pour tomato sauce out of a jar onto a dough, spread it and then sprinkle artificial cheaze over it and bake that).

Hubby grew up here and never knew
good pizza until I dragged him to an authentic place in New York City last year! This is the pizza he grew up eating, so he can't find anything wrong with it. I am shivering at the mere thought...

Father-in-law had some bread thing, I believe it was some kind of ""Hoagie"" filled with fried eggplant or whatever, and it was also covered with that artificial cheaze (hmm, melts so good and makes long strings, that's what they like here!).

I decided to order a medium veggie Pizza. When it finally came, I was positively surprised how big ""medium"" was. I would have thought the served size would have been ""large"". It had broccoli, mushrooms, olives, onions and again this terrible wannabe-cheese. And the black olives were not really black. They came out of a can, they had been ""blackened"" by a chemical. That is cheaper than harvesting real black olives.

I am a foodie and a chef and I recognize the ingredients I am being served when we eat out. At least the mushrooms were fresh (not from a can), but these chemically died olives and the fake cheaze really made it bad.

Then I looked up to the ceiling, and I wished I would have taken my camera with me. Stupid me, why didn't I think of that? I would have been able to shoot the worst possible photo of a restaurant ceiling ever: a vent with dust balls hanging right over our table, in danger to drop into the food any time!

And this was not one vent with growing dust stalaktites, no, the whole ceiling of the dining room was full with them. Also the other tables had this hanging over them. But nobody but me seemed to even notice that.

(...) so I was able to take the uneaten half home. Hubby took also some pieces home. We had to leave because his Mom didn't feel well.

About 2 hours later I also felt unwell. I was bloating and felt like a balloon. I am eating big portions all the time, but I never have such a reaction. And I never have so-called heartburn. When I came to the US and saw the numerous TV ads for heartburn, I had to ask my husband what that meant. Even his description could not explain it to me what that was, I didn't get it. I simply don't have things like that.

But that evening, I believe I had that condition. I believe now I have understood what heartburn is. Because I had a weird feeling in my upper food pipe, behind my throat. I never have that. But that night I did.

[...more text cut...] Because it is not illegal, they can exchange original ingredients with cheap fakes, and they are doing it.

Next time we will better decline if Hubby's parents are offering to take us out again. I'd rather not eat anything than this again!



I had my wedding reception the...

I had my wedding reception there and i wasn't to happy because they eat the rest of our cake and we don't know what they did with our topper that was eatable and other eatable pieces of the they open the bar late and the people didn't get to get a drink when it should have been we waited an hour for dinner was good but i asked for well done and my steak was all pink inside.....we got ripped off with the price too.....i would never have a party or got eat there ever again they really got my mom upset and myself too......




The pizza is awesome!!! Some people know their pizza, other's really haven't had good pizza to know better. ;) Delicious!!!

Great Pizza

I don't usually go for Sicilian pizza, but theirs is awesome! NY style is great too. The person who commented about the bad greasy pizza gave themselves away when they said they prefer Papa John's. C'mon, Papa's type of McPizza can't compete with authentic pizza like King's. Their favorite burger is probably is Whopper or a Big Mac. If you know good pizza when you eat it this is the place to go.

Pizza is awful...greasy and no better than Luigi's!

This place is no better than Luigi's. We really like Pappa John's type pizza...fresh ingredients. This pizza was greasy and the veggies were old and soggy. Very cheap chesse is used and thus the greasy pizza. It is unusual to find a veggie pizza greasy (due to lack of meat) unless cheaper cheeses are used. I would never recomment their pizza (or garlic bread). As for the remainder of their menu I cannot comment because we just purchased a large 18"" pizza and garlic bread. We threw the pizza out after 1 piece.



more than just a pizza joint

King's in Mt. Top is noted for it's excellent pizza. However, they also have a salad bar and their full meals and steak sandwiches are also excellent.
