I stopped by and spoke to the manager on 3/13/2014 to ascertain what it would cost to have a windshield replaced on my 2002 Ford Escort. I was told that it would be $200.00 + tax. So I called and made an appointment to take my car in on 3/21/2014 (today). It is an hour drive from my home in south central Missouri, and I was told to be there by 8:00 AM and that it would take most of the day to replace the windshield and allow the sealant to dry. When I picked my vehicle up at 3:30 PM I was presented with a bill for $289.70. I paid the bill in full, and as much as I hate to say it, I did not question the manager about what he had told me during my first visit back on 3/13/2014. At that time he even looked up the cost for the model, make, and year of my Ford Escort, then quoted me the price of $200.00 + tax. Based on what I was originally told, I began thinking about the price I had just paid. Heading back to Missouri I looked at the invoice that he had given me. The price of the windshield was $267,00, and the sales tax was $22.70. So I was charged an additional $67.00 over what I was told before. While I do accept the blame for not challenging him on this, I am very disappointed that he charged me above the cost that he had originally given me. He even remembered me stopping by the first time to inquire the information about the cost of service. The manager was very nice, but what really counts with me is honesty and good customer service. I have 2 other vehicles, but if I ever find myself in need of a new windshield for either of them, I will not return to Mtn. Home Auto Glass.
