I naturally have dark hair, almost black as you can see in the first picture. I went to see Mark and asked him for "caramel highlights." I also said I needed a trim and wanted long layers. Currently, on the top of my head I have blonde highlights and colors of red throughout my head. I do not have any layers, and he cut off way more than he should have. I had to go to another salon, where one of the stylists said my hair looked like a "rainbow," and that is was poorly done. I do not know how I went in to get simple caramel highlights and ended up with several different colors. When cutting my hair, he did not ask how I even parted it, did not show me swatches of color, and I don't have any layers in my hair. My hair actually looks even more dry and frizzy than when I went in. I am very disappointed with this salon and do not recommend coming here. I was done within 40 minutes, while another stylist just took about half of that time to figure out how to correct it, telling me that it will take 3 hours to fix. Now, I have to wait until tomorrow to get this corrected.
Cathy is the best colorist I've ever been to She is true to heart in her work very experienced and the best kept secret in Charleston.
Absolutely the WORST experience I've EVER had at a salon. TWO stylists here (Maddie & Mia) botched my color & cut & ruined my hair, making half of it break off & fall out. I came in with a thick, full head of platinum blonde hair & left with 2-3 inches of orange roots with blue/purple tinted sides from the toner & a mullet. The stylists are uneducated about their product line & even the OWNER Alex did not know what the base of the color they were using was. And, after asking for 8 Ash permanent lowlights, the first stylist (Maddie) used 8 neutral Demi sheer color which turned my hair orange at the roots & did not grab on my platinum ends. Then the stylist Mia brought in to correct it (after I sat & waited an hour for her) used a level 9 on me after we discussed using a 7/8 Ash, which also did not grab on my ends and she was going to use a neutral toner on top of everything after seeing how orange a neutral had just turned my hair?!? Then, I asked her to trim my ends & shorten the back giving me a more Angled bob but she did the opposite & cut the front shorter than the back & she cut short botchy layers giving my hair a mullet appearance. I'm completely baffled as to why TWO stylists in a row here would completely disregard what the client asked for (especially one who has been a stylist for 22 years, so is educated in color) and let me leave in tears with an orange mullet causing me to miss an event which I specifically traveled down yo SC for & paid a lot of money for. I wasted 6 hours at this salon to leave with my hair in shambles & ruined. I'm going to have to get pricey extensions to fill in the gaps Mia cut into my hair and spend quite a bit of time trying to correct this color. The owner is not returning my calls Nor are they offering to fix it which is very upsetting. I've left 3 messages for Alex & sent numerous emails which show "read", but no one has called, emailed, texted, offered to fix my hair, offered to pay to have it fixed or anything. It's so unprofessional. The staff here is uneducated, incompetent & uncaring. Do NOT go here if you value your appearance & the condition of your hair! If you would like to see pictures of how bad they botched my hair, feel free to message me.
Quick and beautiful! My son was very happy and his hair is gorgeous! Price is more than I like, but it's better than what I can do at home!
After a few years of horrible haircuts I finally found Shayla. This is the best stylists I have ever met. I left her salon feeling and looking like a million bucks! Shayla is passionate about what she does, she is very reasonable and extremely professional. I am so glad I finally found a stylist like her!Jill H.
Shayla is AWESOME! It's not often that you can find a hairstylist that has such good communication and works with your schedule! She explained every step of the cut and color thoroughly. She did not force me to buy expensive products like most, but explained how different hair care systems work. Typically I get highlights at other salons when my dark roots start growing our and after I always have a line where the colors don't match up. I can honestly say that she is the only stylist that I didn't fake loving my hair with before I left. She's helpful and smart and an instant friend! Best part: she met me at 7am because I had to work at 9am and I got to work on time without feeling rushed! I've paid more at other salons to not be nearly as happy with my hair. She's awesome!
I went to Shayla J's to treat my perm damaged hair. I was having a hard time deciding if I should go for keratin complex or Brazilian blowout. Shayla took the time to explain both and even did a little sample of both on small section of hair to show me. I finally went with Brazilian blowout. Great results.... I love my hair! She is very sweet, professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend her.
HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! The stylist I got was nice but completely hacked my sons hair and did NOTHING I asked for. He had long wavy hair that was beautiful and I asked for a trim in the back and for it to be shaped up around the sides and bangs and she cut at least 3 inches off the back, threw a hand full in a zip lock bag and didn't even touch the front until I said something. When I told the lady at the desk that I was unsatisfied I was told "kids hair grows really quick so it will be back in no time". I was having 2nd birthday pictures the next day that cost me a lot of $$ and was told that they couldn't fit me in for an appointment before then to fix it. In other words I was told to deal with it or come back the following week. On the upside, they have cute chairs and televisions to keep the kids preoccupied while getting their horrible hack jobs. I would cut my child's hair before ever going back there!!
I have finally found a stylist in Mount Pleasant! After two years of living in Mount Pleasant and searching for a natural hair stylist, I was delighted to find a review on Shayla J that led me to scheduling an appointment. I thought I would have to travel to North Charleston and deal with the typical salon experience, but thankfully, my outlook has changed. Shayla J was knowledgeable and explained each step she was performing. She is professional, while making you feel at home. I will be a regular from now on.
Mo is a wonderful hair & color stylist! I have short hair and she has unique skills for cutting short hair. I like a low lite of a salt & pepper look. She does this in a very natural looking way. I love it and Mo, my hair stylist. Pat (Realtor) 843-725-8095. Www.iwanttoliveincharleston.com
