Embroidery Etc. runs an illegal. back room operation and will refuse to refund your money if the service is not done correctly. Jakia indicated she was the owner ¿ it appears she does not have a license to do facials, body waxing, eyebrows and eyelashes and she hangs up the phone if you call her to complain and she walks away when you are talking to her without saying a word if a customer walks in. On the night of my daughter's prom she expected us to come back after 5 pm, even though she was at the shop at 12pm because it was not convenient to her and she said she had a lot of other store things she must do in the shop. Apparently, she cannot operate the backroom chop shop until after 5. My daughter had to take off her eyelashes (individuals) because they were caked up with hair glue, the inner edge was poking her in the eye the next morning and her eyes were irritated. When we called to tell her what was going on she said she couldn't do anything until after 5 and she abruptly hung up the phone. I called the next day and she said we would have to pay $15.00 again. I asked her why when they were not done correctly in the first place, and again, she abruptly hung up the phone without even responding. So I went to the shop with removed eyebrows in small baggie & she didn't care what they looked like saying you are supposed to see the glue like that. She never looked at the lashes!!! She just kept repeating I should have brought my daughter back that night like we didn't have a million other things to do that night and she was paying for my gas! She was being unreasonable. Jakia said she was the owner and later another coworker consigned that we should have returned that night when we were running around doing other prom things. The same coworker then said she was Jakia's manager & Jakia was not allowed to do waxing, eyebrows, facials & eyelashes before 5pm. How was she her manager when Jakia said she was the owner? That makes her a liar too!!! Jakia refused to refund our money and after I suggested it, offered to do her eyebrows for free next time, but only once which was an $8 value compared to the $15 she paid for the eyelashes. What a rip-off when she should have just returned the money. This is very poor business practice and very unprofessional. She didn't care about my daughter getting an eye infection or letting an unsatisfied customer walk out of the store. Keeping the $15 was more important to her than losing a customer and this is sad. I did some research and it does not appear she has a separate business, business license to operate a spa, credentials to use chemicals or a cosmetology, or required license, let alone do eyebrows, eyelashes, facials or do waxing in a back room, that by the way looked like a storage room/office/junk room. I believe the Mall leasing company should be informed that she Embroidery Etc. has a side business in their establishment. There is no visual indication by way of sign, advertisement or posting of any kind that she even does spa services of any kind. My daughter found out about Jakia, who used to work at Moon Spa in Eastdale Mall, from a friend.

When asked, Jakia informed me she could not put a sign on the window because she cannot guarantee she could do any spa services at any time due to her priority being the embroidery services she provides. If this is the case a sign indicating this service is provided would indicate by appointment only and she would not be giving out her personal cell phone number versus the number directly to Embroidery Etc. Embroidery Etc. is running a spa illegally on the side and there is a reason people/establishments are required to get a license to operate a business. To protect the interest of consumer!! Please beware of this establishment. They do not deserve a rating of 1.
