I love Monterey, and especially love their restaurants. Whenever I come to the area, Cibo is at the top of my list. I've been there for happy hour and I've been there for a wonderfully romantic dinner. What makes it romantic outside of the ambiance? The food. It's a fantasy in every bite. The chef has successfully brought together authentic, traditional Italian with a modern flare. I've never had anything quite like it. Everything we order is like a party in your mouth!

I attended the PMA convention last week and came across this amazing restaurant. I'll keep it simple, the food was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive, and the live entertainment top notch. My colleges and I had a great time and will be returning whenever we are in Monterey.
Don't miss this place!
My wife and I recently drove up to the Bay Area on business. On the way we decided to stop in Monterey to take in the coastal sites. I remembered a friend had told me about this restaurant called Cibo.
We had a wonderful, romantic dinner and afterwards decided to stay for the live music and dancing that seems to attract a large local crowd. We truely had an "experience".
Later I looked them up online and found an extensive Website with menu and entertainment calendar, including samples of their live entertainment. Check it out when you're in Monterey next http://www.cibo.com.

Great location! We go here EVERY year when we visit Monterey for the Historics and other race weekends at Laguna Seca. They have a great deal fixed price menu - 3 courses for $23 I think - until 7pm. We've been coming here for 3 years now - probably around 6 different occassions. Food is always good; good quality and its always hot (I hate being served cold food). But the service is the worse I have ever seen! Last time we were there; we asked a passing waitress if we could order a drink (we'd been there 20 minutes already) and she told us our server would be with us - eventually! She then sat down at a table near us with patrons and carried on a conversation! Clearly she was far too good to be working there (yeah right). If it weren't for the quality of the food and the location we'd give it a wide berth....

Our hotel recommended this local Italian restaurant, and we shouldn't have listened. Both entrees were incredibly overcooked, and we sent 1 of them back. The chicken was tough and rubbery, served atop a bed of lead-heavy gnocchi pellets. The pasta was mushy and strangely resembled the taste of Chef Boyardee. It seemed like the dishes were cooked ahead of time and reheated to order, served on stone-cold plates. Skip this one, folks.
