Within minutes of meeting me and with almost no review of my symptoms and / or goals, Dr. Rosen was pushing Prolotherapy as the ideal treatment for joint pain. He acknowledged that it is not covered by my insurance plan, but repeatedly insisted it is my best option. I asked Dr. Rosen why it is not covered by insurance if it is such an ideal treatment, and he brushed my question off. At no point did he disclose to me that it is, at best, an experimental treatment. Prolotherapy has not been proven to be safe or effective in treating my condition, but this did not stop Dr. Rosen from peddling it as gold standard. I believe that Dr. Rosen behaved unethically and potentially dangerously. Furthermore, Dr. Rosen made disparaging comments about my financial status when I stated that I would be more comfortable pursuing treatments that are covered by my (high quality, comprehensive) health insurance plan.
