I Spy Consignments

Ive been selling though consignment for many years, and never encountered such an unprofessional atmosphere. I walked in over a month ago to sell a few items (some brand new with tags) and shoes. I was told most make appointments, but the lady there did say she would look at the items I had at that moment (I was more than willing to make an appointment and come back, and she told me it wasnt necessary. Again, I only had a few items and they were in excellent condition, so it really did not take long for her to realize she wanted them). I was told that the items I had would be put out probably by the end of the week (I was there early in the week) or else by the following week, the latest.



I called about a week and a half later, and my items still were not put out for sale. No problem, I totally understood. Owner again stated by the following week - THE LATEST - they would be out. I called again 3 WEEKS later - again, items are still sitting in the back, collecting dust. When I questioned why, the person got attitude with me and told me they were very backed up (how is this my problem?). I AGAIN stated I would wait, but only if they were certain my items would be out by the following week (not really interested in her putting my winter items out in the spring). Again, I got major attitude. Personally, I feel if they were that backed up it should have been told to me immediately, instead of making me wait a month. Apparently they are in over their heads and perhaps it would benefit if they hired more help.



In any event, I received a phone call the next day from a very arrogant and frustrated shop owner who informed me that I was just not a good fit for their store and to come pick up my items. Wow. I had to laugh.



Again, Im sure from the shopper side its a quaint little store, but what an unprofessional experience from the seller side. I will never step foot in that store again (how did I do something wrong when I was just simply asking when my items would be put out?) Its apparent they are in over their heads. Sellers beware.

I'm addicted to this store. Every time I visit, I find great new and used clothes for my toddler and my twelve year old. I refuse to go to Abercrombie and pay crazy prices for clothes. Luckily, the owner of I Spy has a stock of Abercrombie, Hollister, and Justice. She also has a wish list if there is something you are looking for and she doesn't have it. She will call you when it comes in. Clean, and organized too. Nice window displays. You feel like you're at a high end boutique.

I'm normally not a big fan of consignment shops, but I'm happy I decided to check this place out. Each time I visit, I walk out with a purchase! The friendly shop owner only seems to stock high quality, lightly worn clothing brands (some items still have tags) such as Baby Gap, Guess, Tommy Hilfiger, Small Paul (Paul Frank), The Childrens Place, and various brands that I've found at Lord & Taylor and Nordstroms. They also have a large variety of toys, ranging from play kitchens to puzzles to ride-on toys. You'll also find baby gates, pack -n- plays, etc. Great prices and great parking.
