Sure you can go to several places where your child can earn a Black Belt, but here you can EARN a black belt for the entire family. This academy not only teaches your children martial arts and self defense, they teach them life lessons. Discipline, self respect, respect for others (Mom, Dad, Siblings, etc.) confidence, importance of good grades at school. They teach through hard work and dedication you can accomplish your goals. Not just the goal of being a Black Belt, but goals in life such as good grades, good conduct, being a model citizen. ATA Black Belt Academy not only teaches the children in class, but they teach the whole family, not just the ones signed up to take the classes. Through motovation of the children, the children go home and teach the parents, siblings, and friends the lessons they learn in class. My 10 year old daughter has learned a lot and taught others alot in her 6 months with ATA. She is more confident, not afraid to be the 1st to volunteer for a task or assignment whether it be in ATA classes, school, or other youth programs. I signed my daughter up for Taekwando to help her gain confidence. She has gained confidence, and a whole lot more! Thank you to the owners and staff at ATA. Every time we enter the building, everyone has a smile and greets you as part of the ATA family. If we have a scheduling issue or a family issue they are very eager to help us resolve the issue. Since we have been at the academy, we have had zero issues with the school or staff. So to wrap up this review..you can go anywhere to earn a Black Belt, but here you EARN a whole lot more!
EWWWW Gross ! Was the first thought that came to me when I thought about joining a gym. Since Ive joined Phoenix Fitness on Dauphin St, my opinion has changed drastically. This is by far my best impression of a health club. Whether you're a man, woman, gay, straight, fat, skinny, massive , or scrawny; you get the same respect and motivation to accomplish your goals. There is a lot of equipment there that scared the crap out of me when I first walked in. But after their fitness manager walked me through the gym and showed me around it immediately started to feel like home. So far it hasn't been extremely crowded. The owner will know you and call you by your name after less than 5 visits. She is the greatest business owner I have ever met. Her attitude inspires down throughout her team. The head trainer was the scariest man I have ever met. Perception is not reality though. Turns out he is ex military and extremely smart! Not to mention he is also one of the nicest and most helpful people I have met. He is not my trainer as much as I wish I could train with him. They have a few other great trainers on staff as well. I If you are scared to start your exercise program like I was, just go by and talk with them. They have a great staff to help you and motivate you. Also, it's cheaper than most of the other gyms.
Two workouts in and I am ecstatic. This place is leaps and bounds above the ego filled gym that rhymes with "jomni" I just left (well not left, I still have a year on a contract there, but I will sink the cost to never have to step foot in that place again. Being a Fat Guy the only real exercise I do is lifting weights, chasing down ice cream trucks, and struggling to get my hand un-lodged from pick-a-nick baskets. This really is a no frills gym. It is for people who like to go and lift / do cardio / or box. However, it does offer great classes and a great atmosphere. The great thing(s) about this place is that it is never crowded, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, they have plenty of machines and a ton of free weights (THAT ARE PUT BACK IN THEIR PLACE, MIND YOU. Great gym over all, I will most certainly bring my friends and family.
From the moment we started our son at Mobile ATA, we immediately were welcomed into a caring group of parents and teachers. The enviornment in which your child goes to learn far surpasses that of any ordinary class room. The teachers and staff dedicate themselves to not only teaching your child the way of Martial Arts but the morals and values that are so very important for everyone to learn. My sons attitude and entire way of thinking has changed since he began attending, he respects more and appreciates what he is given. In the class room he learns about respect of others, setting and achieving goals, and most important in my eyes self worth. He is taught, and feels like he is apart of something bigger than he is, he knows what it takes to be a Tiny Tiger and strives to be a better one more and more every day! I can not recommend Mobile ATA more!
I have to say after reading some of the reviews on yp and google....to each is own. Some reviews made me feel awkward and uncomfortable while others made me feel welcomed and enlightened. I talked to the manager Derek about the gym and he gave me very useful information as well as gave me a tour. He explained the cancellation policy and also extended a 30day free membership offer for my husband and me to take advantage of and critique on our own. This lets us be able to decide if this will be something we will be interested in or not. But for now I find everything to be good. Please make sure you listen to everything the manager or any official has to say before you comply and start bashing him or her. Thanks have a good day!
The staff is awesome with these kids. They are super patient and know just what to do to get them excited and motivated. Thomas gets frustrated and discouraged and wants to give up when he thinks he can't do something, but he has begun to overcome that in the just the short month and a half he has been attending class. He might not have received his blue stripe, but he says he feels ready for the black stripe test with confidence. Nicholas tried it out, but he decided it wasn't for him. (If he's not throwing, catching, or hitting a ball or running it's not his cup of tea lol) He still loves to just come in to watch the classes and he loves the staff as well.
I joined this gym a month ago. I joined because they had a daycare. A month into my membership they canceled the daycare and would not return the extra 10 dollars a month I paid on the second month that I had paid for childcare, but could not use, because they did not provide the service. The owner was very rude when I asked about this. The gym is geared for personal trainers and their clients not to individuals working out. There are NO group fitness classes, the steam room smells like mildew and the place is very dirty.
After laying in bed for over 2 years from a spine injury,I became very depressed. My frontal skin had fallen and I had flab everywhere. So I decided to join Jason's Fitness. After only 2 days of working out,I noticed my abs are tighter and the cellulite on my legs and glutes have almost completely vanished. I am ecstatic and no longer depressed.I recommend this gym to anyone who wants to improve their life. Thank You Jason's fitness!
Wow! Our family just started classes about 3 months ago. When you walk in the door you can feel the positive energy. Our daughter's beginner class has 3-4 nationally certified instructors and several assistant instructors on the floor at all times. We feel we are receiving the most professional instruction available. Ask around like we did and people will tell you the best place to go. For us it is definately ATA!
That alone speaks volume about the whole ATA experience...from the time he dresses to go to class,to the minute he walks in that door..he knows he is a part of something that gives him great fun..where else can your kids get really loud at?Surely not at home...lol.. The instructors and staff are wonderful people. THANK YOU ATA OF MOBILE
