Overall

Great gym for serious fitness folks. They have every kind of equipment you could need, from machines to free weights to cardio. It's a relaxed atmosphere where you don't have to get dressed up or feel like it's "seen and be seen" like other gyms in the area. A friendly staff and great pricing make this a good gym to get your workout done without all the hassle of crowds.

Overall

Two workouts in and I am ecstatic. This place is leaps and bounds above the ego filled gym that rhymes with "jomni" I just left (well not left, I still have a year on a contract there, but I will sink the cost to never have to step foot in that place again.

Being a Fat Guy the only real exercise I do is lifting weights, chasing down ice cream trucks, and struggling to get my hand un-lodged from pick-a-nick baskets. This really is a no frills gym. It is for people who like to go and lift / do cardio / or box. However, it does offer great classes and a great atmosphere. The great thing(s) about this place is that it is never crowded, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, they have plenty of machines and a ton of free weights (THAT ARE PUT BACK IN THEIR PLACE, MIND YOU. Great gym over all, I will most certainly bring my friends and family.

EWWWW Gross !

Was the first thought that came to me when I thought about joining a gym. Since Ive joined Phoenix Fitness on Dauphin St, my opinion has changed drastically. This is by far my best impression of a health club. Whether you're a man, woman, gay, straight, fat, skinny, massive , or scrawny; you get the same respect and motivation to accomplish your goals.

There is a lot of equipment there that scared the crap out of me when I first walked in. But after their fitness manager walked me through the gym and showed me around it immediately started to feel like home. So far it hasn't been extremely crowded.

The owner will know you and call you by your name after less than 5 visits. She is the greatest business owner I have ever met. Her attitude inspires down throughout her team.

The head trainer was the scariest man I have ever met. Perception is not reality though. Turns out he is ex military and extremely smart! Not to mention he is also one of the nicest and most helpful people I have met. He is not my trainer as much as I wish I could train with him. They have a few other great trainers on staff as well. I

If you are scared to start your exercise program like I was, just go by and talk with them. They have a great staff to help you and motivate you.

Also, it's cheaper than most of the other gyms.

I joined this gym a month ago....

I joined this gym a month ago. I joined because they had a daycare. A month into my membership they canceled the daycare and would not return the extra 10 dollars a month I paid on the second month that I had paid for childcare, but could not use, because they did not provide the service. The owner was very rude when I asked about this. The gym is geared for personal trainers and their clients not to individuals working out. There are NO group fitness classes, the steam room smells like mildew and the place is very dirty.
