Ultrasound
When the wall of your aorta weakens, a balloon-like dilation called an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) sometimes develops. This happens most often in the abdominal aorta, an essential blood vessel that supplies blood to your legs. If diagnosed with an AAA, it’s important to have an ultrasound test every 6–12 months to monitor for aneurysm growth and risk of rupture.

Dr. Makamson graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine in 2002. He completed a general surgery residency at St Luke’s Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis. MO and a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Missouri before returning to his home state of Mississippi in 2009. He relocated to Mobile, Alabama in 2015 to establish the first outpatient endovascular lab in the state of Alabama before recently joining the Vascular Center of Mobile in 2022 to work with Dr. Esses and the Vascular Center of Mobile with the mission of bringing the very best and most advanced vascular care to the citizens of Alabama through Mobile’s only accredited outpatient endovascular lab.
Wound Care
Venous ulcers are wounds on the extremities caused by a lack of blood flow to that area of the body. If blood flow is not optimal, the healing process is extremely delicate and a course of treatment for the wound should be established with your vascular surgeon. The Vascular Center utilizes skin grafts harvested from the patient and processed by a lab here in Alabama to ensure the fastest turn-around time from harvest to application. We also specialize in revascularization of the extremity to renew sufficient blood flow.
