Overall

I remember going to eat at the Barnabys in South Bend when I was a child with my parents. Great pizza then. Great pizza now. Their distinct pizza crust and atmosphere is what sets Barnabys apart from other pizza establishments.

Great place to eat

The food here is very good and it doesn't take that long to get it either. Only thing is the last several times I went they only accepted cash which a lot of people don't carry but there is an ATM machine inside.

Not as good as it seems

This is a popular place, and many locals would tell you that this is the place to go. I personally don't think its that great.

I will tell you that a good aroma of pizza strikes you as you walk in to Barnaby's. The pizza is freshly made, and the crust is formed into an appetizing-looking pie crust shape. After all the hype, however...the taste was very average. Fresh, but no character, nothing that made it stand out. This is a good place if you like a very casual atmoshphere and want ""pizza and beer"". More discriminating customers and/or those with high expectations of high quality pizza could be disappointed, however. Also, oddly, they only take cash or local checks.

I know taste in pizza is very subjective, so I wouldn't say not to give it a try for yourself. Personally, I think the pizza at Pizza di Roma at the University Park Mall up the road is better.
