Overall
We have taken our two Yorkies ...

We have taken our two Yorkies to North Shore Pet Connection for a total of 10-12 times. We were told that group play would be supervised, and we signed a document that stated this. We felt our dogs were safe there, it seemed like a well-kept place and very nice. On 6/24/11, we received a phone call from Animal Emergency to tell us that Chief (our 5.5 lb Yorkie) was brought to them DECEASED. Chief was KILLED by another dog at this facility while UNSUPERVISED!! We are in anguish that our dog is DEAD - he was the happiest, most playful and social, sweet little dog. He was healthy and beautiful. His sister Rosey is devastated without him and she keeps looking for him, thinking he will arrive at the door when someone comes in! She sniffs for him to try to find him when we go for walks. We paid extra $$ to bring our dogs here, thinking it would be good for them to be social. We did NOT know that the operators and employees were not expert enough with dogs to know that they cannot be left in kennel runs without supervision! I believe this to be NEGLIGENCE. To make matters worse, we were LIED to about Chief's death initially AND when given a second chance to tell us the truth. We were told that he was killed in 2 minutes when the employee was turned away scooping poop. But when our dog arrived to the Animal Emergency, he had RIGOR MORTIS already. We were also told that he died because of normal dog play! Unfortunately, Chief had a bite in his neck with a hematoma (indicating carotid or jugular puncture) and air (indicating tracheal puncture). He also had bites on his thorax and abdomen - this WAS NOT a result of play but rather an ACT OF AGGRESSION meant to KILL. These dogs WERE NOT SUPERVISED, and I am offended that I was given the reason of play as the cause of death rather than admitting what really happened here - HUMAN ERROR which was the lack of direct supervision. Had I known this was how my dog was being kept I WOULD HAVE NEVER TAKEN MY PET HERE!!! We returned to pick up his ASHES and FUR-CLIPPINGS rather than him. I would advise not to risk your pet's life here, and you cannot trust this owner!
