Tonight we had our 13 year old cat put to sleep at Lakeshore emergency vet clinic. It was very difficult but they fully explained the options and costs. We were able to stay with our cat during the euthanasia. They were professional and kind. I would recommend this emergency clinic for extreme cases.

The staff was nice enough and seemed to care, however this business preys to those in emergency situations with outrageous costs for service. I can almost guarantee you'll be ripped off if you have to go here. It took me over an hour to negotiate a price for service. I caught my vet beginning her spiel of the cost game before she stopped herself and said, oh let's take a look at her (my cat) first. I gave one star because I think she cared a little for my pet in her condition.

Best Care - Great place!

This is a great place with a caring kind staff. I travel a distance to use the Animal Emergency Center and I find the drive well worth it. I have used them four times and each time I have had a positive experience. My cat had surgery there and I was allowed to spend half the night laying by his cage. To me that is priceless!

The staff made me comfortable with a blanket to lay on. The staff knew my cat was scared when I was not there, so they put a blanket in front of the cage so he could feel secure. How is that for caring! They quote you on the fees in advance, which to me is not necessary, because pet ownership should not be about money and if it is you should not have a pet.

I can imagine the frustration of the staff when they are there to save pets lives and the have to deal with the people that make the choice to put their animals down because they don't want to spend the money to save them. I commend each and every staff member at this center!

the best place for a sick animal

my springer developed diabetes in his last year and needed alot of care. he had an enlarged liver and spleen, hypertension, uncontrolled diabetes and emegency surgery for bloat. their skill and compassion was comforting for me. i could spend as much time with him as i wanted and i could call anytime. when he died i could stay as long as i needed. they collected some of his hair for me and made the arrangements for him to be cremated.

was it expensive? hell yes. It's an emergency department and critical care unit of course its expensive. but i would do anything for my dog.

Pay for what you get !

My dog got a cut that needed instant attention, they are always open, and the people that work there are professionals that care about animals. If you can't afford to take care of your pet then you should'nt own one. Anything can happen at anytime and they will be their for you. People seem to think cheaper is better. The 24 hour emergency clinics have the best vets in Milwaukee!

Had to go in there today

I've been there several times now, all emergencies. Yes, they're expensive, but you ask what's required, WHY it's required, what the cost is, etc. They DO have to have you put the quote on a credit card, but they have experts there for just about everything.

We've been there with a full urinary blockage with a cat, with a constipation issue with another cat, a renal failure on another (we lost that cat), cancer end stage on another, and emergency pancreatitis (today).

Once they did the quote you can make an owner's decision to say yes or no on what they need to do.

But all the techs and vets have been extremely professional, very animal caring, very patient. And when you have a pet who can't be helped, who has to be euthenized, they're VERY understanding with grief.

I know they're not cheap, but they're very good at what they do.
