General Info
On December 2nd, 1987, brothers Russ and Jim Klisch opened Lakefront Brewery and sold their first batch of Riverwest Stein Amber Lager to a neighborhood tavern in Milwaukee. We have grown to brew 46,848 barrels of beer in 2017 and distribute our products to 35 states, Canada, Ukraine, Japan, Korea, Sweden and Australia. Lakefront Brewery was the first certified organic brewery in America, the first brewery to produce a government-approved, gluten-free beer and the first indigenous beer using all Wisconsin grown ingredients. We currently produce 20+ year-round and seasonal beers as well as our innovative one-off My Turn Series which gives each of our full time employees a chance to choose a style we've never brewed. Beer aside, Lakefront is also known around the country for their highly entertaining and sought-after brewery tours.

Fun tour. Ok beer.

This place is located in downtown Milwaukee right next to the Milwaukee River. The tour was pretty fun (although I don't remember any slide) and seemed to be aimed toward the early 20 something college crowd. They give you beer while you go through the tour and a free beer glass at the end of the tour. I had mixed reviews on their beers althrough they had a really good seasonall Belgian Style White Beer and their Fixed Gear Red Amber Ale is also pretty tasty. They also have some local and organic beers if your into that sort of thing.

Great beer, great experience... a Must--do!

The guy who ran the tour was awesome! The fact that you only pay about $6 for 4 beers is great! It was my first time in Milwaukee and I cannot wait to go on another Lakefront Brewery Tour!

I had family visiting from out of town and thought that there was nothing better to show Milwaukee spirit than taking them to a fish fry at the Lakefront Brewery. Although there was a bit of a wait, it was well worth it. I could handle the people smoking outdoors because at least there was no smoking inside. The Polka music was festive and the fish fry was tender, hot and one of the best I have ever had. The service was great. I give the server credit having three tables yet being so attentive and friendly. I would definately go back to the fish fry at Lakefront Palm Garden. Those that do not enjoy it are just a bunch of boring, lame, like to stay-in-their-same-element kind of people.

A Fish Fry NO NO

My wife and I decided to try the fish fry here because we had heard good reveiws. We usually go out for fish about once every other month or so and the location varies from high end restaurants all the way down to this place. Once we made our way through the smokers standing outside by the front door we entered the zoo. We were brought to a table with six perfect strangers next to the stage. We couldn't even hear each other talk. The food was well below average. $10 got me two pieces of fried cod and a handful of soggy fries. Waitress never stopped back to fill the water craft probably because she wouldn't have heard us ask anyway. Loud, poor quality food, and lousy service! I can best describe this place as a high school cafeteria setting, so yell across the table to the perfect stranger, CAN YOU PASS THE KETCHUP PLEASE! We'll continue to fish around for others on Friday nights, no second chances here!

All the beer you can drink, and a slide!

A pair of brothers run Lakefront Brewery and keep the atmosphere fun and friendly. You sort of think that it's an extension of their frat days, but they're not pretentious enough to have ever been frat boys. They're just two good ol' Milwaukee boys, brewin' beer and givin' it to their customers via tours that spend more time near the tap than the brewery itself. For those who really want a piece of Milwaukee, have a few frosty cold ones, then climb into Bernie's Chalet from the Brewer's old County Stadium and slide, baby, slide.
