My experience with the Homewood Suites Downtown was the worst customer experience I have ever had in my life. I had been talking with the sales department about booking a block of rooms for my wedding. They provided me with an initial quote which I was satisfied with and asked for a tour of the hotel. The Director of Sales then did not contact me in regards to a tour and did not reach out to discuss the contract further. I waited a few weeks to hear back because I knew that they had just opened and were probably getting their feet on their ground. I reached out a few weeks later and they refused to honor the initial contract. They then sent me a new contract with a price increase of 100$ per room! I can't believe that they would increase the price that our family and friends would by paying by so much with it relating to the staff's mistake. The Director of Sales then refused to provide me a phone number where I would be able to reach her to discuss this further. The sales staff at the hotel were inflexible, terrible to work with, and rude. I would not suggest this hotel to anyone.

I used to work at the Golden Key for 3 years in the mid-1980s when it was owned by Earl and Beverly Tillman. Back then, the motel had a five star rating, and we and the Tillmans worked to keep it that way. ANY stained towel, chair or carpet was brought to attention of the Tillmans. Recently, I went back to see if I could work for the current management as a favor, but for a part-time job (I need a part-time job so I can take care of an elderly relative). Well, they said "$4 per room," but after cleaning 3 rooms, I looked around and none of the ownership family members were found. The one woman (wife of owner?) told me that there "was no agreement for $4 - per room payment." I left without being paid the meazly $4 per room and worked for FREE without being paid! The work I did was what was expected when the Golden Key was in it's heyday, when people would come to the Motel because it was such a pleasure and comfort to just stay in. With all the great memories of my time at Golden Key, getting ripped off and not paid a lousy 12 bucks for cleaning 3 rooms has now left a bad taste. What I did notice is that the towels are probably the same as from the mid-1980s.If anyone else gets to own this fine motel, please consider hiring me for real wages! This poor motel needs REAL staff that know how to take care of the carpets, chairs, replace the aging towels and sheets. The reason for the bad quality is that the current ownership does not want to pay for staff. The beds are not professionally made, the carpets and chairs not cared for. but you will not get much better paying $4 a room -- or in my case --- getting cheated out of pay altogether!
Never stay at this hotel they say that you will get a breakfast but you don't. They don't try to do anything about it but to offer you a upgrade if you stay there again. Why would I want to stay anywhere that is horrible in the first place.
First, when we called to make our reservations to stay here (about a week before we were going to go) and no one told us that the pool was going to be down for yearly maintenance. Second, the lady at check in did not offer any apology or compensation for pool being down and seemed bothered that we were questioning when the pool would be up (which wasn't going to be until the next evening. Third, the room was filthy...Yvette did an awful job cleaning. For paying the extra for the jetted tub suite one would think it would be well kept, it wasn't. Finally, when morning came the cable went out and when we called they didn't know when it would be up and still no compensation was offered. We checked out after that (cancelled our second night) and went to a different hotel This was my 15 year anniversary and I have to say it was unforgettable and not in a good way.
I realize that this is a lower budget hotel, but really, you are still charging over $50 per night for this place and the things wrong with this hotel are so bad that you should be paying people to stay here. The shower was terrible because the drain is plugged and shower floods over the edge and i was standing in the filth of other people's hair and body detritus! There was also no handle in the shower and my disabled husband fell down and hurt himselfThe floors are so filthy that when we put a towel on the floor after the shower made such a mess, the towels were black! Why was there gum on the headboard?--this is gross, disgusting and a health hazard! The beds were not made after we came back in the morning-all the maid did was throw another SINGLE towel and washcloth on the bathroom sink. Nothing elseUnbelievably, I had to pay $3.19 to use the Internet for 24 hours and it was terrible and only worked on 1 device at a time. Very expensive and I have never in the past 5 years seen any hotel ever charge for wifi in the US or in EuropeOnly 1 towel in the room and we had to beg for more-- and they are so tiny and thinOnly 1 bar of soap, no shampoo or conditioner or blow dryerThe Window was broken and screen didn't close so bugs and rodents could come in while the window was open. we had to open the window because the room smelled so bad and the air conditioning smelled. There were gangs outside of our window and it sounded as if there was a drug deal gone bad out there. We complained but the manager did nothing. Bathroom faucet leaked all over counterNo toilet lid and the toilet seat was dirtyBeds sink in the middle--it was a horrible sleeping experienceI honestly don't know what to say--I mean, for the money we paid, surely, the room should be clean, comfortable and functional, don't you agree? I believe we should get a full refund for everything we paid and an apology for the adverse conditions.
Forty Winks Inn is a great place to stay and a terrific value! This hotel is scrupulously clean, Clean, CLEAN! Rooms are large and quiet. Free WiFi and light breakfast also. We stay here whenever we are in Milwaukee!
Cheap, but you get what you pay for. I stayed here for over 3 months and this is what I found: The Good: The staff was courteous and accommodating. The price was reasonable especially for a month stay. Breakfast was good. I stayed in a jacuzzi room one week and it was nice. Good Internet. Easy/close parking. The Bad: The rooms weren't very clean, especially the bathroom. I stayed in 3 different rooms over the 3 months and one of them had BED BUGS. Luckily I carefully checked the bed and found them before I unpacked. The staff moved me immediately and I had no other trouble after that. The beds were very stiff and uncomfortable. There was no safety locks or chains on the doors, which kind of bothered me. Also I was told that if I paid for an entire month up front and I had to leave early that I would get my money back. But when that happened, they refused to give my money back, which cost me over $700! The manager did call and argue with the corporate office on my behalf, but it didn't help.Overall, I'd stay away from this one if possible.
This motel was terrible owner very rude over the phone rooms where nasty and they had bedbugs. ..
Looks newer from the outside but old on the inside. Dirty carpets, bathroom not cleaned ( my feet stuck to the floor, hair on the floor and sink).
Nasty, filthy, gross and over priced. The reviews on Google for this place have to be fake! I checked into this hotel, for a week after 4 days of being there they sent in house keeping as I can only assume was as nasty as the motel owners. Housekeeping made the bed and kept the four day old visibly dirty sheets on my bed. The chairs in the kitchenette are so filthy it's just a shame and to top it off the floors are full of moldy old carpet just disgusting!.
