My sister and I attended this dojo, as a recommendation from our dad. The place is very simple, and the equipment is very good quality. All that you need for a good dojo is there. Our instructor was knew very well what he was doing. He is very knowledgable in both Tae kwon do and Filipino martial arts, but also knows of others as well. He knows and makes sure we know and respect what it is that we are doing, as an art form and way of self defense. He is a very patient man, and taught my group, ages 9-35 very well!It is a lot of fun, and is definitely a work out.
I started Women's Empowerment and Combatives classes at Gracie Jiu Jitsu Milwaukee in April 2015. It's a safe environment where people of all ages and physical backgrounds can learn self-defense. The instructors are encouraging, patient, and passionate about helping students learn to defend themselves in easy-to-understand lessons.Gracie Jiu Jitsu relies on technique, not strength or flexibility. A small person can efficiently subdue a larger opponent, whether standing or on the ground. As a woman, I love the confidence that comes from knowing I can legitimately handle myself in any possible situation.Everyone on the mat, no matter what color belt they wear, is friendly and very respectful. This is not a gym where newcomers are intimidated by the advanced students. The 10 day free trial meant I could be sure it was a good fit for me, with zero pressure to sign up. The classes are great value for the price, it's the smartest investment I've ever made.
Kang's Tae Kwon Do is an outstanding school to study martial arts. I have been a student for over 5 years and had the true achievement of earning my black belt. Master Kang is a truly devoted teacher, instructing people of all ages in self-defense. He is still an active learner as well, as he earned his seventh degree black belt giving him the title "Grand Master." His House of Discipline focuses on the core Tae Kwon Do tenets of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. We, students strive to be champions of freedom and justice and to use our skills to build a more peaceful world. Even children are welcome. Master gears focus to school work and respecting adults in the child's life. I highly recommend pursuing an ancient Korean art at Master Kang's dojang. Pil Sung!
Retired, semi-active and 73 years old, I joined Master Kang's self defense classes in August of 2012. I knew my flexibility, balance and energy level were notably declining. Within two years Master Kang has substantially improved my overall physical condition and general well being. The program and especially the individual attention I continue to receive from Master Kang has made all the difference. Awesome program! My physician has confirmed my overall physical improvement. Both I and my Son have been going to Master Kang's for a few year now. It has been great. It has help build my son's confidence and athletic ability. I'm in better shape than I have been in many years.
I've been going to Kang's Tae Kwon-Do for over two years. Master Kang is a fantastic teacher and is very good at identifying individual learning styles to help his students reach their full potential. The atmosphere is welcoming and never intimidating, and anyone can feel welcome. Whether your 7 or 70 (not even joking. Come meet Bob) you can learn self-defense and have a great time doing it.
