There's something fishy about the meat here. It has a weird taste as if it was refreezed several times. I've been to the El Cerrito location and it didn't have the same issue. But, at least the dumplings are good here as well as the veggies. For those of you who are curious, hot pot city is a chinese version of fondue where you put thinly sliced meats, meat balls, and vegetables into the boiling broth. At the end of the meal, you are left with a broth made powerful from all of the essenses of the items you placed earlier. Drinking that broth is the main event before diving to dessert -- shaved ice.
I have been here for many times .The food has been tasty .The prices are good. I think this restaurant is authentic sichuan. She told us the spicy chicken wings with chili peppers is their famous dish and it did not disappoint. Crispy outside, tender inside with over 30 chopped peppers marinated into it. Very spicy! Amazingly good. If you like spice, you must get this dish. Love at first taste. Good place to go if you realllllly like your food spicy.
Great place for Chinese food. Competitively priced, large portions and great taste. There's always a large crowd so either come earlier or much later to avoid a wait. I like the chinese rice cakes stir fried with some "Chinese Spinach", I think that's what they call it. They also offer wonton soup and a lot of dim sum style dishes.
If you like huge portions of authentic Chinese food at very reasonable prices this is the place. I recommend the Hot & Sour Soup very highly. Even the Chow Mein was quite tasty. We also had Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Beef & Seafood noodles basket all great. The only disappointment was the egg rolls which were only so-so.
Well, the food here is decent and the decor/ambience is up to par with other Chinese restaurants in the area. The waitress sings a mean tenor of traditional Chinese folk songs while serving her customers. Very entertaining indeed. Avoid the Non-Seafood dishes that has beef in 'em -- hence the 4 Stars instead of 5.
Arrived just after 11AM on Sunday and had to wait 40 minutes for a table for 2. The food was very, very good, like the other Koi Palace's in the Bay Area. Next time, I'll arrive at 10:45 ;)
