Bella by Alethea is a small, personal spa with friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. I have experienced both spider vein and hair removal treatments. The spider vein treatment went very well. I had developed a bruise-like cluster of veins on the back of my right thigh (just above the knee) while carrying my second child, and after eight years figured it wasn't going away on its own. Because it was so obvious, I was self-conscious about wearing shorts or short skirts. After four treatments, the cluster was diminished in size and color by about 90% so that it is now significantly less obvious. Although I am also satisfied with my under arm hair removal treatments, their efficacy was not what I originally expected so I advise potential clients not to get their hopes up too high. During my initial visit, I was told that most individuals achieve complete hair removal after 4-6 sessions, and as someone with fair skin and dark hair should respond well to the laser. I was also told that the percentage of hair removal for each session is about 10 to 20% and every client experiences different results. Optimistically, I expected to be hair-free after four times! However, after four appointments I was only at about 40% reduction. Prior to my fifth and sixth treatments, I spoke with the technician about my disappointed expectations and in both cases she promised to adjust the laser for more pronounced results. But after my 6th treatment I was still at only about a 60% reduction. At this point I emailed the company via their website and was answered directly by the owner, Alethea, who invited me to meet with her at my next appointment so that she could review my chart and adjust my treatment. She did so, and after this 7th treatment I was at about 85% reduction. In hindsight, I would recommend emailing the company earlier with concerns rather than just consulting with the technician. So although I didn't experience 100% hair removal, the remaining hair is finer and lighter in color so that I no longer feel like I have to shave every day - rather two to three times a week. An acquaintance who is a dermatologist told me that there is no such thing as permanent hair removal and that at least some of the removed hair should gradually return. I have noticed this somewhat over the months since my last treatment (in August 2011) so will plan to return to Bella by Alethea for a touch up treatment. I also wanted to mention that although another friend complained about how painful her hair removal treatments were (at a different spa), I would characterize my sessions as more uncomfortable than painful. The technicians offer you a cold pack in preparation for the treatment, and blow cold air on the area throughout the laser treatment. They also give you aloe afterwards. I wouldn't have signed up for 12 sessions if I found the experience painful! Overall I would recomment Bella by Alethea.
My sister recommended Cynthia to me some years ago. She told me..."Cynthia's great Rick. She'll make you look like a star," which is just what I needed to hear. I was living and working in Las Vegas at the time and my look was important to my business, so I gave Cynthia a try. Cynthia listened (actually listened) to my concerns about how I felt I needed my hair to look and was able to give me a style that worked in the boardroom in the daytime and on stage at night - that perfect balance that, believe it or not, was a real challenge to find in Las Vegas. At that time, in the early nineties, I had to be in Georgia a lot, so it was only natural that I would use Cynthia but after several seasons of going to her (between salons in ' Vegas) I realized no one I had used since the seventies had done as good a job as Cynthia was doing now. I began arranging my trips to Atlanta based on her schedule as much as mine...yes I am vain about my looks, obviously. Is she expensive? Compared to what? The Hair Force chain, a $5 nightmare? The ditz down at Neiman-Marcus? Please! She might be a little pricey, but she beats all the competition in her neighborhood. Is she inconvenient? Well, for me she is - very. I now live in back in the south, but not Georgia, and I still jump through hoops to get in her chair...because I know when I get out of that chair my hair will look exactly how I want it to look. I am rarely (never) on stage anymore but I still have to go to the board meetings. When Cynthia is done with my hair I am ready to take on the world...because I know I have the best haircut in the world. That's how I feel and Cynthia neither asked for, nor paid for this review. I just wanted to let everyone know how happy I am to have her as part of my staff.
Everyone there has been beyond nice to me and very accommodating including Alethea. Keep in mind that I always go out of my way to project positive energy in hopes of receiving it back and that may well be my secret. :) First, I have very pale non tanning skin with dark coarse hair. I also feel almost no pain. I have been there 3 times for laser hair removal and after just one treatment I noticed at least 25% of the hair was gone. Since then I have been a total of 3 times. It has been at least 3 months that I haven't even shaved. Looking right now I can actually count how many hairs are left and they are hard to see and maybe a quarter of an inch long. I am leaving them so we can see what still needs to be done. I wish I could have my whole body done!!! I have been to another place when laser hair removal was still new around 5 years ago and I had 6 treatments and 100% of that hair has grown back. it was extremely painful and It also cost me around $700!! Since my 3 laser treatments at Bella so far I even went in for a microderm facial. Two weeks before I had a microderm performed at another salon and my face wasn't even red! I couldn't even tell! At Bella, my face was really red and all my skin just fell off for the next few days. It was amazing!! I just put avocado oil on my face right after my morning shower then before I went to bed. I can't believe how fantastic my skin looks and i heard that you need to have like 3-6 done to see any results?!?! I love my results right now. I even had a groupon and I don't feel like I was treated any less.
I have been going to Adel & Gary's for over 30 years - with Gary as my hairstylist & Jackie as my colorist/chemical pro! Both--are the BEST in the business. Gary- knows how to DESIGN your hair to match your face. He is a sculpture that knows what style, hair length, color compliments your face. I have sent many friends and family to him to get a "make over". They have ALWAYS been completely AMAZED at the results. Jackie- is the chemical genius! My hair is always healthy and brilliant when I leave! (except the time that I messed up my hair on my OWN by trying to do my own hair at home--Ran to Jackie to help "undo" what I had done. She warned me that I should wait. After I begged her to fix it.. She added just a little correction coloring here and there-- It turned out GREAT! (only a little breakage because she was SO careful to choose the healthiest hair) I even get tons of compliments on my latest experiment -- I might get her to do it again-- However, next time, I would let HER do it from the beginning-- I almost caused all my hair to fall out doing it on my own! Eeekkk I would drive an HOUR to go to Adel & Gary's to get my cut and highlights -- But, luckily they are still close by. P.S. I hear "Tony" is also a good hair stylist-- haven't used him personally though.
My partner and I got a Scout Mob deal on massage services at Urban Body Studios, and I scheduled an appointment with Tai, who was one of the massage therapists participating. I figured, since I got him by default, that I shouldn't have any unreal expectations for a great massage. Man, I could not have been more wrong!! Tai is that rare massage therapist who actually listens to what you tell him, has the skills to put his hands to work, and produces GREAT results. After only three massages, I'm hooked... I work out a lot. I do weight training, and use the machines at my gym to row, bike, and sweat it out on the eliptical. I'm in my 40's, and definitely need help staying balanced with the hard work I put in. I have been to massage therapists many times before, and have finally found someone who can keep me tuned up. Tai has intuitive, powerful hands, and gets right into those difficult areas with just the right amount of pressure, just pushing right up to the point of pain without ever crossing over the line. I stay in a meditative-like state the whole time he's working on me, and don't even have to give him feedback--he's that GOOD. I am so happy to have stumble upon this wonderful, amazing therapist. I cannot recommend his services enough. Just WOW!!
I give them two stars because it's a beautiful salon, convenient location and I like the concept. My first impression of this salon is "they all should know what they were doing". Well that impression quickly faded. My stylist was Deidra or something like that! She was thirty minutes late to my appointment, not a big deal but it is unprofessional. She wasnt as friendly but that wasnt a big deal but it is unprofessional. One thing that I appreciate from a stylst is that they keep it real with me. Be honest let me know what you think is best for my hair, since you are a freaking stylist. I was going natural and I already hated it. She didnt make me feel any better out of it. I got more criticism then healty advice. She made me feel like she couldnt do my hair as pretty since it was short and natural. If she would have freaking suggested I needed to get a perm then I would have but she didnt suggest that! Any way she cut my hair into a bob, flat ironed it, and i looked like a freaking bird! I spent 85$ there, and I had to spend an extra 65$ the following week because it was so fugly. I want to try Darcell next.. Hopefully things will go well or I will raise hell.
I honestly decided to leave a review because i know there are others experiencing issues similar to me. I came to Uptown & saw Josie off of a site called styleseat.com. i had recently been tooken advantage of by 3girls&aneedle hair/service and wasnt sure who to trust. But simply by grace & mercy, i was led to Josie & had a wonderful experience. I got a full sewn in w/ closure using true indian hair (she believes in recommending quality vendors & not just trying to get over with bad batches). Pricey...yes...but worth it due to the quality of hair ordered (2 bundles & closure $315...will review hair as well) & she died bundles & installed for $250. She also cut layers into the beautifully dyed blk with subtle burgundy highlights (1st time trying color...was nervous...but came out great). Additionally, they were friendly, enjoyed gospel music in background (which i truly appreciated but later R&b was played), was not loud/ghetto/cursing going on...just really a cool environment. This is a real & true review by a female fed with Atlanta's abundance of hair vendors & stylist out here trying to collect on our hard earned money! Im DEFINITELY returning!
Very popular! Bella MedSpa is definitely doing something right to keep up its popularity. I have visited spas near and far, and Bella is definitely #1 when it comes to being an in-demand spa. Whenever I visit, the place is never empty. This is usually managed well, but I did have to wait 30 minutes for an appointment the last time. Considering this was my third appointment and a first time occurrence, the issue was understandable and appeared to be uncommon. Coincidentally that day, I also had the nicest laser tech I have encountered, so she made up for the delay. When it comes to price, Bella is a front-runner. The spa provides great quality for your money, especially compared to its other competitors in the area. They clearly work hard to offer affordable options to clients. Moreover, I do not believe that I have ever seen the owner, Alethea, with a frown on her face. By the way, here’s a tip for booking laser hair appointments: always book online. If you call, you will likely find an appointment 1-2 months in advance. If you place your appointment online, you will likely find an appointment in days or a week tops.
I did my research before flying into Atlanta GA from California and I was in need of a serious stylist that knows how to transform people into stars. I actually followed Beautii J's career history on you tubes and blogs which shows a lot from the fashion world, products, entertainment, hair and now educating up and coming stylist. I really wanted a master educator a women of her master craft in my hair. Beautii listened as to what my needs where and added a few suggestion and assist me in selecting the best Indian Hair that matches my natural hair as possible. When my weave was done, I felt and look like a mega star and I must say Beautii has turned my life around because I was picked for a role that is currently view on T.V. now. The staff is so friendly and nice. The staff work is superior as well, I have not seen any client leave unhappy. The shop appearance has a European decor that relaxes your mind. Rest assurance, I am pleased and I have found my long term stylist that not only services my weaves at the shop she also hooks me up on set. Thanks Beautii J...
So I was experiencing some tension and pain on the right side of my neck. I have been seeing another massage therapist and a chiropractor that have been great but we just weren't quite getting there in terms of loosening up my neck. Alexi is a big guy and pretty powerful, not to get confused with rough or aggressive. But it's exactly what my body needed to get that relief I desperately needed. The first session I was so locked up. Alexi opened me up very quickly and I was impressed. I came back for 2 to 3 more times and by the end of the 3rd session I was cured and fully unlocked and able to sleep and move my head in full range of motion pain free. Price is amazingly low for his services $100 for 90 minutes, services like this usually run $150 a session. The appointments can be scheduled online, I was in and out very quickly. I HIGHLY recommend Alexi if you need, desperately need some quick relief, even in my scenario where my chiropractor was unable to quite get me there.
