We contracted with Ferguson to build our new home in late May of 2017. After very little work was done (clearing/site work, footings, and foundation) and he had received close to $98,000 of our money through construction loan draws, he was unable to complete the work. It was stated to us for weeks that framing material was ordered and trusses had been put in production and paid for. As the date came for framing to begin, it was discovered that materials had not been ordered or paid for. We felt very upset and stressed out at this point as it appeared our money had been spent else where. We had to take over the project ourselves. An amendment was signed by both us and Ferguson that he would repay us $60,000 by mid October. This deadline passed without us being close to fully repaid. During this time, I was forced to use money from savings to keep the project going and take a great deal of time away from my job and family. Finally after asking many times over the course of months and being given promise after broken promise, we received a final payment in mid December to make us whole on the $60,000 even though we still allowed him to keep close to $10,000 in profit on job in order to be done and move on. We also were contacted recently by a sub contractor for the work that was done on footings stating that he had still not been paid for the work on our home by Ferguson. My wife and I were truly excited to build our new home and felt that this experience really ruined it for us. I would not recommend Ferguson General Contracting.

Extreme Caution & Warning!
We hired Ryan in September of 2017 to finish our basement. It was to be a large project and gave him a down payment of 30% of the project cost. The contracted start date was to be the end of October yet all we received was various excuses for delays and work was never started. Long story short, our suspicions were unfortunately confirmed revealing Ryan’s severe financial difficulties through conversations with preferred vendors and subcontractors. The only activity we had in 3 months was framing materials delivered one day and picked up the next because the check for payment from Ryan bounced.
16 weeks after our initial down payment – no work had been completed at all and we simply requested separation from our contract and return of our deposit – which Ryan agreed to. Ryan indicated he did not have our deposit available to refund at that time. We provided him almost 3 weeks to do so – and despite many assurances from Ryan – he failed to return any money to us. Never is a good thing when attorneys have to be involved with a home remodeling project. I would hate to see this happen to anyone else who is excited about a home improvement/remodeling project. In replaying conversations and texts over the past several months, Ryan misrepresented the completion of our project, made numerous false promises and direct lies were uncovered with regard to actions such as vendor orders and subcontractor scheduling.
I am extremely surprised we are the first customer to negatively review Ferguson GC as public courthouse records of municipalities in and around Central Virginia show several legal disputes currently pending.

We decided to go with Ferguson for a 3rd floor renovation project in our home after meeting with Ryan, and we are very pleased with the decision and results. Ryan does a great job of walking through the process from start to finish, and offers great advice along the way. Communication was great and he was very flexible and helpful with us when changes were requested. I would highly recommend Ferguson for any renovation project you might need. His team is very respectful of your home and you will definitely be pleased with the end product, and working with Ryan made the process easy and stress free.

FGC just completed multiple jobs around my historic home. They were very professional, completed everything well within the said timeframe and, most importantly, within the estimated price quote! Highly recommend!!

Mr. Ferguson was an absolute pleasure to deal with. He was timely, professional and always responsive to our questions and our needs. We engaged him to do some work on our investment property and he treated it like it was his own. He made sure that we were pleased with the work each step of the way and that the job performed exceeded our expectations (which it did). The fees charged were also extremely reasonable. We will definitely be using this company again.
