We lost $600 because of Members First Credit Union. The cash was not properly dispensed from the drive-up teller and the cash, along with a driver's license was stolen. The credit union did not obtain a signed receipt, which is normal practice, meaning is cannot prove that the cash was dispensed. Members First did not call the police as a result of the theft. We as the customers had to do that, along with take precautions regarding possible identity theft. Employees were evasive and managers were unavailable to talk about the situation immediately after it happened. Their security camera is placed in such a way that it can not be identified who took money from which tube. When we complained to the president of the company he blamed us for the stolen money and lied about what we said. We filed a report with the Bureau of Consumer Protection, Better Business Bureau, and the Members First Credit Union Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee. We are hopeful the Supervisory Committee and Board of Directors will do the right thing and reimburse the $600.
Would be nice it this Credit Union was better informed about Government Health Savings Accounts. They are clueless and have to be told what the limit is to deposit yearly. Also they issue checks for the account...get with it , a card that can be swiped is so much easier but they wont issue them. My checking account had errors that they will not acknowledge due to "computer error". Usually there is a teller "in training" who needs to ask advice from another teller, who also needs help. Also please tellers...cut your fingernails. Claws only make errors and also when you make a deposit please record it as a deposit and DO NOT SUBTRACT from the account. Honestly, I feel like I have to tell you your job. Needless to say I am leaving this CU. Good luck to you who use it, I certainly hope your experience goes better. GOOD LUCK.
Members First credit union has many promises and service standards, and the first is to treat you as an honored guest. They do JUST THAT! They have so many benefits that are better than other credit unions, and they're a thousand times better than a bank! As I sat to wait to open a new account, I was able to have coffee and a comfortable place to sit as well as a magazine to read. I then had help from the New Accounts Representative, Erin, who helped me with everything I needed to know. She also suggested some other financial services that would be able to help me. I felt important, like they appreciated my service, and I couldn't have been happier. I now understand the difference between a bank and a credit union, and have closed out my bank account. it was so easy to switch!! I reccomend this to EVERYONE! MFCU has a personalized account type for everyone :)
