Does anyone need to be home for Christmas and holiday light installation?
Most services do not require anyone to be home for holiday light installation, provided the crew can access the power supply. If the power is behind locked doors (e.g., in the garage), the installers will need someone to come give them access.

Most Christmas and holiday light installers do not want to use lights provided by the homeowner, but there are definitely services that will at least consider using them. Sometimes their decision is based on the quality of lights: Are they commercial-grade? Are they fairly new? Were they safely stored?
Do Christmas and holiday light installers provide their own lights?
Christmas and holiday light installers can generally provide lights, allowing homeowners to “lease” them for a certain period of time. Sometimes, however, decorators will sell the lights to the customer as part of the package the first year, so it’s more expensive for that year, but then the lights can be reused in later years.
What is the difference between incandescent and LED holiday light bulbs?
Incandescent Christmas and holiday lights are the traditional lights with filaments in the center of each bulb; they are known for the warm glow they cast. They use more energy than the newer LED lights, however, and heat up very fast when they’re on, which often causes them to short. LED lights are much more durable and longer-lasting--they have a lifespan of 6 or more annual holiday seasons. Plus, they can be bundled together in many more strands. On the downside, LED lights are more expensive, so for quick or short-term events, some people opt for the more inexpensive incandescent lights.
How much does it cost to have Christmas and holiday lights installed?
Christmas lights cost anywhere from $3-$70 for a single lighting item. Heavy-duty light strands cost $15-$30. The most expensive lights are special effects ones like “waterfall” strands. The average amount to buy is around 10, making the cost of lights, if you DIY install them, about $100-$200. However, if a professional puts them up, it will probably cost at least $300--and, if you want more lavish decorations, or if there is a larger area to decorate, the cost could easily go up to $800-$1000. Keep in mind that with professional services, part of the cost is for renting/buying the decorations, so it goes down in ensuing years.
What are Christmas and holiday decoration services?
Christmas and/or holiday decoration services do the work of putting up decorations indoors and outdoors. Most of the time they supply the decorations, but the customer can also provide them. Decoration services also take down the decorations after the holiday. Note: It’s key to make sure any holiday decoration service carries insurance before you hire them to do work on your property.

It's also important to let the landscape designer know how the space should function. Interior designers can generally work on every type of room, but one should not assume that all of them can work on every type of space. More complicated projects--for example those in buildings with historic preservation strictures, or those that are going for sustainability certifications--will be suited to interior designers with specific expertise. Also, interior designers that have experience in a certain type of project may not want to take on projects that are outside their expertise. For example, an interior designer who has only worked on commercial projects may not want to do a small private home.
Do interior designers work in a particular style or are they versatile?
Every interior designer has their own style, but some designers are more versatile than others. Some really do specialize in functionality and code compliance, whereas others are more focused on aesthetics. Interior decorators are completely focused on visual impact, and therefore should be reviewed and selected based on how well their style is a match for the client’s tastes.

Full-service interior design starts with an assessment of a site and the client’s long-term needs for that space. It encompasses concept design, floor plans and lighting plans, providing project specifications to contractors, supervising contractor negotiations and installations, applying for permits, and shopping for all the materials and pieces for the project. On top of this, there are the “decorator” deliverables, i.e. creating the aesthetic of the space, selecting wall colors/covers and furniture pieces, purchasing products and installing them.
