        Florida Department of Corrections is one of the largest state prison systems in the United States. Based in Miami Gardens, Fla., the department ensures the safety of Department personnel and provides supervision of all offenders under jurisdiction. It also offers several academic, vocational and substance abuse programs to inmates/offenders, including adult basic education and mandatory literacy, printing/graphics, carpentry as well as Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous. Its facilities include major institutions, work camps, work release centers and road prisons.
