I went to Alexander who works on Sunday's and Monday's this idiot destroyed perfectly healthy hair. Beware he talks a big game and does not deliver! Terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing, fun haircut. Thanks Danny!

My teenager and I love getting our hair cut at this Salon. The location is awesome, and the staff are very professional and friendly. Thanks to Danny for always giving us both fantastic haircuts, regardless of the length or style - and we have had many styles over the years!! He does a great job on my highlights too - they come out looking really natural, and I am extremely picky about highlights!

Horrible Experience! Regrettable Decision!

Horrible experience!! I decided to have a high end salon trim my hair the week of my wedding so that I would look my best for guests and pictures on the special day. I chose ARUJ in Coconut Grove, FL and couldn't be more upset by the haircut provided by Danny. My haircut at the time was only a week old, so an easy trim to tighten up was all that was needed. Instead, I left the salon with more than 2/3 of my already short hair cut off. Additionally, the fade was impressively poor with clearly visible lines and a near bald patch following an accidental stroke. Danny was completely unprepared and seemingly incapable of cutting men's hair. The majority of the hour long trim was spent trying to locate clipper guards until ill-fitting guards were finally used.

Thankfully, a stylist at the salon heard about my issue and assisted me in making my hair cut look like I didn't cut it myself in the dark. She was especially courteous and understanding and was clearly shocked by the poor job done by Danny two days earlier. Albeit short with a still noticeable patch on the top left side of my head, she did a tremendous job attempting to fix Danny's mistake.

Couldn't be happier (and Danny is Back!)

Anyone that knows Aruj Salon knows it was the first AVEDA salon in the area from a long time ago. Danny Aruj is back there now! I was so happy to learn that! He started it back then. Danny is the best with color--i can't be happier and his cuts are just how I like it. Now that he is in the hood, can't wait to go back there. And for those of you reading this that don't know the place, seriously their SPA is worth checking out. It's attached to the salon and is a slice of class and tranquility in the middle of the bustling Grove. Enjoy your day. I was so pleased Danny was back and so happy with my last color/cut I had to sign on to tell the world! :)

You deserve the best... so go to Aruj

Leave the stress of going to a new salon behind and sit back, relax, and a few hours later you're a new person.

I hate trying a new place because as bad as my hair is when I walk in, I know enough to know that the devil you know if better that the devil you don't.

Plenty of places have offered me a cure to my unruly curls and at home color disasters (grey hairs included) only to rob me of time, patience, and money with bad service and even worse results.

Danny was my stylist at Aruj and he was fabulous. He listened to my concerns, evaluated my hair for what it is and what I wanted it to be, and took the time to ask probing questions about what I was trying to achieve, showing me that he was truly vested in giving me the results I wanted.

Finally I have a cut that gives me bounce, body, and manageability to a head of crazy curls. I find my hair is so much healthier since he trimmed off the dead parts when giving me layers... which by the way compliment my head shape and hair texture. I get compliments on the color all the time.

But here's the kicker... the whole staff... from the moment I set the appointment to the moment I let the door close behind me was SO NICE... not pretentious and snobby like some ""fancy"" places can be. Yet... no luxury was spared in providing a great experience.

It wasn't ""cheap"", but I'm used to paying upwards of $150 when I go to a salon anyways because there's always so much to fix. I got a cut, color correction, and full color. It took 3 hours to get it right. So the tab was more than worth it. You can't get cheap and quality in the same sentence as the word service. It just leads to trouble.

So hands down... an awesome place and I can't wait to try more services from their spa department.

Terrible, Sorry to Say

I hate to write a bad review, especially for a nice person. But my hair was really ruined by a stylist here. I do not exaggerate. I wanted a new kind of highlights that gently fade in at the ends of the hair, and I wanted a trim for my bob haircut. In retrospect, a single process color, carefully placed, would have done the trick. I showed a picture and discussed the the color with the stylist. What I got were very bleached out (green) highlights all over that started in a super straight line about 1 1/5 inches down from my roots. I also got a really, really uneven and bad chop job, where one side was layered in a straight line at my ear. I asked for a fix of the color right then and there, and she toned it down. Still so bad I had to come in the next day again. Still bad. I finally went to another stylist for a fix. But my hair will be growing out for months, if not a year.

Again, the stylist could not have been a nicer person. That's why I feel so bad I don't want to name her. But this is just not right.

I've learned my lesson. When I called, they asked if I wanted the person who'd given me a facial a year ago to do my hair. Why didn't that tip me off??

Lost her touch

i got a haircut there and was not happy about it at the end. but what could i really say, it was done and over with and nothing could be done but to wait for it to grow out. i realized that my stylist, though nice and entertaining, had lost her modern touch and didn't have the ability to adapt to what i had asked for. apparently she has been cuttin hair for 15+ years so she has plenty of experience, however after what she did to my hair i realized she had lost her sense of style. i should've realized this the minute i saw her own hair and she said she maintains it herself. it was NOT what i wanted for my own hair. so in the end, what it seems like to me is i got my hair done by someone who has experience but lost her edge- like those ladies that own their own salons where my gramma goes to get her hair done because my gramma knows that their style is ALWAYS the same and never evolving. how tragic for a hairstylist, who should be known to always be fresh and with the latest on the newest styles.

SO- if u want a basic cut, go to her- at least she's dependable and won't make it uneven. On the other hand, if you want something fresh, look for someplace else.

Fabulous Color by Jackie

I moved to Miami from DC and wanted to find an Aveda salon because I like Aveda color. I went to Aruj in Coconut Grove and am so happy that I found a great stylist and colorist in Jackie. She is very friendly and attentive ... as is everyone in the salon ... and did a fabulous job with my cut and color. I highly recommend her.

Tara is truly amazing!!!

Tara is the bomb!! She knows style and I am always confident that I will get a great cut. The layed back atmosphere makes the whole experience relaxing and fun. I recently had a makeover as a favor for my friend who is on a national t.v. show and now I find myself running to Tara to fix the damage that this famous celebrity hair colorist and stylist did to my hair. I only trust Tara to undo this mess. Never again will I stray. I have a few friends that also get their hair done by Tara and as with myself they always receive compliments from random strangers. Love heeerrrr!

definitely recommend this place!

I visited this salon, recommended by a friend, because I was looking for a ""new"" style. Short and easy to care for -- Tara was my stylist and she was WONDERFUL (I cannot understand how the other reviewer thought Tara was rude -- she is great!!). They started out giving me a great neck massage with a peppermint oil (which helped to cool me off), and Tara told me how she was going to cut my hair for my ""new"" style -- called the ""Tara 2000"" haircut. I get so many compliments on my new haircut. It was really a great experience. I'll definitely be back.
